1996 audit monitor "simple" replacement?

Hello all,
My audit monitor now goes black with a thin white line along the bottom  in both camera and monitor modes.
I see some just used sealevel gauge replacement,and others did entire new monitor.
I'm looking for simple install for the tiny 6" original dash mount. Is this doable and economical? Thanks in advance.

If you remember the TV controls when you (maybe) were a kid, there were "vertical hold" and "horizontal hold" adjustment knobs. If you lift the dash, remove the monitor cover (pressure tab fittings) you will see labeled knobs/thumb wheels on the circuit board. Reach in with a pencil or you finger and rotate those four thumb wheels starting with vertical and horizontal. I thought mine was dead and I saw these adjustments from my childhood and figured what the heck. Contrast will be one and brightness may be another. Good luck.

Geri, thanks for reply.
 Yes , remembered my parents zenith early American tv with both knobs.
I slid the audit tin cover back and found the two dials,but using a pencil eraser,no go.
But worth a try, thanks again

My monitor still works, but have been looking at options for upgrading.  Recommendations from others was to replace Audit with SeeLevel and direct connect the camera to a new monitor.  Some tape/velco a new monitor over the old one, some use a stereo with a flip out monitor, others put a monitor on the dash.

Just FYI, the signal out from Audit is flipped, so if you still want to see Audit on your new monitor, you will need one with the option to flip or mirror the image.

If I understand correctly, you just want to replace the B&W CRT in-dash monitor with another screen, but retain all the original Audit display info.

If this is correct, use the Forum "search" function to search for the term "totevision".  Order your results by "most recent topics first".  You will find numerous reference to using the ToteVision LCD-560 monitor in this application.  Although I believe that monitor may be out of production, you can still find them preowned.  The link below is one example:

Tom,
Do you have the same problem if the engine is on or off?
The picture on these monitors is dependent on 12 volts.
Mine would work with the engine running.
Batteries only I would lose the picture.
That was a power supply problem.
These power supply's take what ever voltage they get from the coach, then add five volts then regulate it down to 12 volts.

Same outcome,if engine off or on. Just thin horizontal line in both modes
. Coach batteries were new (8d AGM) three-months ago. Alot of totevision ideas thanks guys!!

FWIW:
I recently replaced my old TV monitor with a new 7" four channel display - I'm planning on adding side cameras - the hardest part is getting power so I just spliced into the supply for the old monitor.
Yes. You do need a monitor capable of reversing the image from the audit unit (AKA "computer").
It is just a "plug and play" replacement after that.

No sense in fooling around with this. Call Tim at RVcams .com There are tons of folks on this forum including me that cannot recommend him highly enough. Tell him what you want and he will fix you up with what you need. On my 1990 GV he sent me everything I needed to use existing wiring. Done in an hour. High def, great monitor, very happy.

I purchased from Tim at rvcams.com, from Baton Rouge. It's his house brand 7" monitor.
Retained original camera for now. Thought about Velcro to surface mount screen, but used supplied dash mount as a backing plate.
