Fresh water hose heaters

I'm curious as to what other folks are using to prevent a fresh water hose from freezing.  I have around 40 ' of exposed hose that I would like to protect.  Would bundling the hose with the shoe power cord provide any protection?  Checked on heated hoses and they are pretty pricey!

When we are in below freezing temperatures, we fill the tank and use water from it.  The hose gets drained and coiled.

Yea, that idea dawned on me after I wrote the post, as that is what I did for two winters in the past.  But I like the idea of having an 'endless' fresh water supply if possible, as I am parked for the duration.

Pipe foam around hose with your own heat strip, both sealed together around hose. Also if not worried about gray water tank filling up, leave water faucet cracked to keep water moving in hose.

No reason to buy those expensive heated hoses and then have them fail.

Just based on past experience, I would make sure the fresh tank was full if an extended freeze was in the forecast.  We were in Santa Fe in late October during one and the RV park shut off water to protect the park plumbing/fresh water hookups.  A friend who wintered in Espanola (for work) used a heated hose.
