Awe, come on! Now my dash sparks...

Hi all.
So i got AC by replacing the ATS under the bed; got the water pump working by properly grounding it;  and got the Aquahot running by changing fuel filter and nozzle.
Now, my dash is sparking. More like "sparkling" near the temperature knob. I removed the knob and took the assembly off thinking maybe there was a bad ground. I mean, this thing looks like the old barkler sticks I used to play with as a kid. Or like a laser as it's etching metal.
As soon as I turn the dash lights on, it starts sparkling as you can see in the picture. Just that small spot near the word "cold". All the blue trim flickers.
I think my best bet for now is to find a wiring diagram and disconnect the power to that blue trim. Hopefully it's separate from what lights up the individual gauges. Does anyone know?

Looks like something may have pierced or scratched the surface membrane.

No personal experience, but I have seen comments on the Forum that the electroluminescent dash can be tricky to work on and easily damaged.

Use caution when poking around the back side of the panel.

Here is a good thread talking about it and how to fix it.

Great, Tommy D.
Thanks for the search link; I was using the wrong terminology in my searches.
I guess this will be my next project.

Nice. I was easily able to peel back the black part off the aluminumwithout taking any of the knobs off. Until I get the liquid black tape, I put a small piece of cardboard and tested it out. No sparks and no sparkling. Thanks all. Now it makes a hum that it didn't make before. I may have damaged  that power supply. But I saw a description for it while searching so I will look it up.
