110v Outlets in Fridge Compartment

There are two 110v outlets in the refrigerator compartment via the outside access panel.

Each outlet has one cord plugged in. I resume one of these is for the fridge, but what is the other one?

Vacuum? Ice maker?

Good suggestions.  I know the vacuum works, so I will unplug it and confirm.  That seems most logical place to start.

If like our coach, one of those outlets is powered by shore power/generator only - the other one is also powered by the inverter.

IIRC, the white outlet is on the inverter circuit, but don't hold me to that.  It's been a while since I messed with those outlets.

Look for some 110V device that still operates when you are running on battery power (inverter).

Like nitehawk said, good chance it is the ice maker.

Almost assuredly both outlets are for the fridge/icemaker, 1 (not inverted) for the main part of the fridge, the second (inverted) for the icemaker.

Even with 110V, most RV fridges still require 12V to operate.

Thank you for all the replies.  I initially assumed the ice maker would would be wired into the fridge like a residential unit, but did not consider it might only operate with shore or generator power.  I will use a meter to check voltage when on battery only and when on shore/generator power....and mark them so I do not forget.

The ice maker has a seperate compressor and should be plugged into the plug that runs off the inverter. The other plug is to run the refrigerator itself. This is so you can make ice while driving. The fridge will run on propane while driving. OR, you can plug them both into the inverted plug so the fridge also runs while driving. Just don't forget it will draw down batteries while engine is off.

Inverter powered is for ice maker.

Non-inverter powered is for fridge heater.

You could pigtail the two power cords into one and run the refer always off the inverter side if you have enough battery power? Ice maker has a separate on and off,  in my case 430 watts.  Not sure of its duty cycle once cooled down?

May test it just to see. 

Left my empty dometic in storage with the gas flame on and set for 4th coldest.  Temp sensor in lower corner.

34 in refer and freezer was iced up 9 degrees.

Still works it seems.

Fridge 120v heating element probably draws over 1,200 watts over 10 amps of 12v if heating on inverter. May not be a good idea for more than a short time.

I know this post was quite awhile ago but what Color plug was for the fridge and what one was for ice maker. You advised you were going to check,label and respond back

Peter,

Normally, one outlet is fed only from shore power/generator and the other by both of those (pass thru feature of the inverter/charger) OR from the inverter.

So, shore power off, generator off, inverter off, neither should have power.

Turn on the inverter. ONE should not have power.
