Re: Does anyone know what this [odd tool] is for?

I was digging the through an old box of parts that was originally in a bay on the coach and this was in it. Does anyone know what this would be used for?

Put it in a tub you leave at home. Next time out it will become obvious what it it for or not.  If not at least you aren't hauling around scrap iron.

Yup Daydreamer got it.
roger is right. You will find a use for something--if you leave it home.
I used to carry a Model T jack in the coach and never needed it. Left it home and could have used it to help G-daughter and husband raise their single axle camper to change a tire that blew.

For the rounded over lugs?  :)

I have never used a spike driver, but sure wished I had one when I was driving the multiple 8 foot ground rods with a sledge hammer.

Makes me wonder if a prior owner did "big tent" events!

Maybe a tire thumper?  I used to see semi drivers banging their tires to make sure they were inflated properly.  Fred Flintstone used one on his rig. :help:

Daydreamer has it but it is for an electric or pneumatic jack hammer.

Just what you need in your FT, Jackhammer accessories.  I've ben in some CGs where pounding in a stake was pretty hard but this is overkill.

I bought one for digging, breaking rock and cement. They work really well but can be expensive unless you either find on used or use the discount coupon at Harbor Freight. It was on special and with the coupon, the price came down to about $300. The heavier the better. Ours is the $499 model as the larger was not available at the time. It's almost perfect (but heavy) except the trigger is plastic and could break off if it fell over. I noticed that complaint in the user reviews at HF's site. We put in a 817 foot concrete driveway and it really came in handy. No substitute for dynamite on the big rocks though. Nothing smaller will work on sidewalk thickness concrete.

Hilti and Bosch are a couple of the big names in electric jackhammers.

Mine is a Makitta and I have had it for over 20 years. Saved hours putting underground utilities to my shop. Concrete and asphalt between the house and shop.

Stake setting tool for circus tents or similar tie downs. Large air hammer. Way more work than I want to take on anymore. Drive stakes right thru asphalt or rock. Great tool to put on eBay or make a wind chime out of.
