Windshield wiper adjustment

so for the last 2 years or so whenever I use my windshield wipers the bottom of the blade would hit the top of the mirror housing. I rarely drove in the rain so it wasn't something that was on the top of my mind but recently I've had to go through a lot of rain and it's quite annoying . Both windshield wipers hit the mirror housing that bolts to the front of the coach. It's damaged the passenger side wiper blade and I almost lost it on the last Drive. I'm not sure if there's a way to adjust it I looked in the forums and I couldn't find anything on it. I guess I could just get smaller blades and maybe that will do it. luckily I rainex the windshield before I left Texas a couple months ago but it's wearing off now. Anybody else have this problem? Mine park a little low in the middle but don't touch the mirror. Hasn't rained here for 180+ days. Little need to use them here

Bob, had that issue, broke the drivers arm in bad rain, had to stop and switch from the P/S.
Got new one's, just kept adjusting them. The 2 screws make a difference in adjustment. One thing for sure, checking them dry, and checking them wet makes a difference.

Make sure they park tight and straight in the middle, and also make sure the serrated parts aren't broken or worn out.

Make sure you have the correct arm length.

Assuming that your wiper blades are the correct length.

The shaft that the wiper arms mount on rotates a specific degree segment, i.e. an 80 degree segment plus or minus.
The position of the wiper arm, on the arm's shaft, determines the reversing points of the wiper arm on the windshield.
You may have to re-index the wiper arm on the shaft.

Do you remove both nuts to pull them off and re index?

I've adjusted mine by only removing the main arm and then I loosen the two screws to get the right angle of the blade.

If you pull the wiper off the big nut to re-index it you need to fold the wipers down first.  That releases the tension and allows it to pop off easier.  Yep, one of those duh things.

Also check to make sure you have 26" wiper blades.  I thought a 28" blade would have enough clearance, but I was wrong.  It banged on the mirror mount until the arm broke.  There I was on my way home on I40 in Oklahoma along the side of the road in the rain.  I did apply rain-X in a light mist and made it home.  Now I have 26" blades and all is good.

Thanks. I have Trico 67-261 67 Series Heavy Duty Black Wide Saddle Wiper Blade for Curved Windshields, 26" on both sides.
Can someone describe how to re-index the wiper blades please?

Unless your wipers are different than mine, you take off the nut that holds the wiper arm on and then pull off the wiper arm off.
Sometimes they can be hard to get off and need prying. Then you will see the splines and just move it up another spline or two
to get it where you want it. Then you loosen off the screws and aline the wiper blade.

Thank you. I'm looking at my windshield wipers now and thinking that they are too far to the outside of the window. So moving them over one or two notches and then realigning them should do the trick and also not make them so visible when I don't need them.

Yup, on our U295, they are almost touching the center rubber.

It may take several attempts to get them right.

The 2 screws that adjust, make a big difference.

Yes if mine aren't right against the center post the passengers one flips around. I also need to replace the bushing on that one.

All right well just wanted to report a success on this one. It was actually fairly easy to do it once the center nut is removed and there's a tooth washer behind that, I just used a large screwdriver that has a square blade and shaft and slid it in between the bushing and the end of the wiper and that kind of popped it off. First attempt where I wanted and a little bit of fiddling got them to where they are now pretty much at the middle where they need to be and more importantly are no longer hitting the mirror. So appreciate everybody's and put it on this and consider it a job done
Also had one of my clearance lights not working. These are new LED lights on the front cab. I thought maybe it was just miswired but come to find out that one of my crimp connections had failed and I did not use heat shrink on them for whatever reason I can't remember period so I had to recrimp one of the connections and now everything's working good. Scratch two things off my list!
