Brett retiring from doing coach inspections

We are in the process of moving from League City TX (reasonably close to Mecca/Nacogdoches) to Ft Myers, FL.

So, no more coach inspections in Texas.

Will remain active on the ForeForum-- ya, after we get moved in.

This is sad news to future prospective TX buyers.  Your inspection expertise is a invaluable resource that will be sorely missed.

OTOH, sounds like a exciting move to a new location, new adventures, new friends, and virgin territory to explore.  ^.^d

Well, yes from land, yes, virgin territory for us.  But, been through there many, many times in the sailboat on our way from Texas to the Bahamas over the last 30 years.

All rooms of our condo except the utility room look out on the Caloosahatachee River/Okeechobee Waterway.  So, with binoculars and VHF radio can get back to visiting with our boating friends.

Well I would never live in Florida again Brett, I wish you well there. It's a great area to be in, with good sailing, great sunsets, great seafood just an occasional hurricane to deal with. Of course living near Houston you had that anyway. if you haven't already check out Carl Hiasens books. A must for living in South Florida. Don't think I spelled his last name correctly but he wrote striptease a great movie with Demi Moore as well as a whole lot of other stories.
Also I appreciate the work you did on my coach on the inspection. It was very thorough. Good luck in your new life there. I have friends that live in Florida still, Boca Raton, Bradenton, Gainesville. My first son was born in West Palm Beach and I've owned two homes in Florida.
I just wish it wasn't so crazy. Or I'd still be living there.

Ya, back in our working days, lived in St Petersburg. I ran the Infiniti division for S Florida.  So, spent a lot of time on both coasts.

There are definitely two different south Florida's-- east coast and west coast.  Would not consider the east coast, at least anywhere south of Jupiter.

Welcome "Back" To Southwest Florida !!!  We live 30 miles north of you in, Punta Gorda/Port Charlotte. Great fishing although the Harbor "Charlotte Harbor" is a little shallow in spots at times. Love the Peace River great for pontoon boat rides. Hope to meet up with You when you get here... Gerry  ^.^d  ^.^d  ^.^d  Our family has had property here sense 1947 when my Uncle got out of the Army after WWII - so I have been visiting this area sense the 60's. Fortunately This area of the West Coast only gets a "Direct" hit from a Hurricane about once every 40 years. "Donna" in the 60's and "Charlie" in 2004..... all the rest were near misses...

Ah, a great state to be from!  We have lived down there off and on for well over 40 years.  Ft. Meyers area is really growing, as all of Florida.  We really like Okeechobee and it is growing as well.  Who would have thought, as back in the early 60's, you could by an acre for $500.  Of course I can remember back in the early 50's when you could buy anything on the gold coast for zero down and $50 a month payments.  Remember the swamp land?  Worth millions today!  Have fun, just watch out for those lovely love bugs!

Forget the love bugs.  It is the no-seems that we AVOID! Got initiated in the Bahamas anchoring near the salt cedars.

Hey Brett, sounds like a great move, the "suncoast" is the best....St. Pete.'s my hometown, family arrived in 1920....lots of great Foretravel folk down there too....and of course, nice boats....happy trails and happy landings!

OK, we are (mostly) unpacked in our new digs, Internet connected.

Enjoying seeing old cruising friends go by on their journey across the Okeechobee Waterway.

We have spent quite a bit of time over the last 30 years in the Ft Myers Municipal Marina (just the other side of the Edison bridge).

One of the first people I spoke with when we started considering "an older" motor home, and preferably a Foretravel was Brett, he took time to talk to me about the coach, pros and cons as well as what to look for when buying.
Brett you were an ambassador who swung us into a life with a Foretravel.
Thank you for that and your comments on the forum, we will still look forward to reading more your comments on the forum, enjoy your new home in Florida.

Florida, no longer the Sunshine State. Now God's Waiting Room. :))
Years ago, when I was Chief Engineer at a company in Clearwater, it was three months before I met a Florida native. Seems they are greatly outnumbered by folks from other states.
One can see when it is winter in Florida. The AC is turned off and the shorts are swapped for long pants.
Strangest thing: After about six months I found myself missing Wisconsin. After analyzing my feelings I found that I was missing the change in seasons, along with the change in wardrobe, activities, and even attitude.
Now that I am about 30 years older, Florida looks more attractive.
Enjoy, Brett. I really enjoyed your suggestions and help. You were, and still are, one of the two major assets of this forum. Michele is the other.

Ya, our second time to live in Florida.  Last "real job" was District Manager for the Infiiniti Division of Nissan Corp for Florida.  We lived in St Petersburg. Kept our sailboat across the street at the Municipal Marina and sailed down the coast when we got a chance.

Welcome back.  We love it here.  Best Kayaking anywhere, 11 miles. Best race tracks within 3 hrs.  I can race all year, boat all year, bike all year.  True, the Summer cars come out either after 8PM or all winter.
