Average MPH according to hour meter.

I just recalculated the average miles per hour according to the odometer and the hour meter on my engine.

I always find it interesting, especially since the DW is ALWAYS telling me " we're in no hurry, we'll get there when we get there.
We use I-5 in California and Oregon a lot , mostly cause the truck limit ( and towing ) is 55 mph but as we all know that means 64.  But that's  lower than the 75 or 80 that trucks often go in neighboring states.  And our coach doesn't idle much, if it's running it's moving

Anyway, the number is  .... wait for it.      41.5.  What's your average.

The new-to-us coach had the speedometer replaced shortly before we bought it.  Reported miles at the time of the swap was 131,000 miles, and the previous owner reported having the mileage read from the engine computer.  The odometer now shows 5349.1.

So...

I can claim either 4.31 (kidding) or 125.2.  I would expect with 1089 hours, the miles would be around 54,500.  Or, with 136,000 miles, the hours should be around 2700-3400.

Any ideas?  Do you think the hour meter has been replaced as well?  The wear-and tear and improvements seem consistent with around 100,000-130,000 miles.

Matt,

My hour mete quit recording when my tachometer quit working.  Several coaches in our age range have reported tach failures so I suspect that if yours is working and indicating hours that do not seem reasonable, it probably has been replaced.  It is possible to have the hours advanced to the proper number.  The engine computer records the proper figure.

With my VMSpc I have the correct hours and miles according to the engine and transmission computers.  My numbers are: 133,622 miles and 2,909 hours for 45.6 MPH.

At this point, it is more interest than need.  I will get the numbers read eventually.  Right now, I am shot-gunning the coach - oil, filters, coolant, checking hoses, cleaning, washing out ACs, repairing dash AC, checking bulkhead, replacing engine and generator insulation, getting to know stuff, etc. etc.

Matt, not to change the subject, but...... I saw your dash AC comment.  Ours wasn't working when we got it and the PO said it hadn't worked for a couple of years because of leaks.  I charged mine myself, but added a can of Red Angel Stop Leak first.  It has ran cool since.  In my case, it was a cheap and easy fix. Just an FYI.
