Replacement of Generator Cooling fan motor

I am replacing the motor on my Generator s cooling fan (Dayton), anyone have any advice on the direction of the fan CCW or CW? Also how to wire it up in the junction box? The instructions from the manufacturer is different from the original factory install. Color of wire are different. ????

I did it a number of years ago and old himmer is kicking in.  I had to replace both the motor and cage since I destroyed the squirrel cage in trying to remove the motor.  The motor has a neutral wire ( I think white) and they 3 other wires. They were for the different fan speeds. I believe I used the high one, and then capped off the other two wires.  I remember there was a start or run capacitor but I believe that they had their own wires coming  off the  motor.

Thank you turbo jack. Got it done and didn't have to destroy my squirrel cage. Took the duct off the back, disconnected the 2 radiator hoses, unbolted the 3 bolts at the top and bottom of the radiator, then the whole thing came out in one piece. The duct outlet on the back of the cage comes off with about 8 screws and you can see the set screw that holds the fan to the motor shaft. Works like a charm after burning the air out of the system.

Steve if you have the start capacitor on the back you might think about moving it to the front.  If it does go out will be much easier to change!

If I am reading this right, here is the steps I see.
1. Drain fluid
2. Pull both hoses off
3 unbolt the top 3 and bottom three bolts
4 the unit can be removed from the motor home

Do I need to remove the control box with the switches on it? Seems real close to fan cage.

Once out, remove fan and gain access to the 8 nuts that hold the fan cage on.

Then remove the cage from the motor and remove the motor.

Does this sound correct?
Please correct what I need to do different

If you have the vertical mounted radiator you can skip 1 and 2.  Here is what it looks like. What did you do to your coach today VI          Now if you are going to change out the antifreeze anyway this is just as good of a place to drain the system.

With your control box having been moved you may have enough room to take the fan and shroud out. The amount of room is depending on who moved the box and what size electric box they used. While you have the fan assembly out make sure you move the capacitor to the outboard side so it is easier to get to when it needs to be replaced.

The little bit I remember since I did it around summer of 2001 is it was not a big deal removing the fan housing and motor. I sure don't think I touched the radiator or hoses and left it where it was mounted.

I believe there was a thread not to long ago and I believe dsd said you move the squirrel cage further in on the shaft so you can clean the end and it will then come off.  I never thought of that when I replaced mine.

Thx for the input. I did find out one good morsel in this project, burping the air out.
Dont mess with the bleed points, just remove the top hose, run a garden hose in the hose until liquid comes out the thermostat neck.thats it!

Once you use a coolant vacuum fill tool you will never look back... or struggle with air lock.

That would leave you with water in the system not coolant.

I  drained and filled sysytem with a 1.5 gallons of coolant, then i burped by taking tne hose off and using a garden hose like i explained. Loose some coolant, but not as much as using the bleed screws. You could use a container to capture it. But it bleeds way better that the bleed screws. A PT tech told me this trick.
