Foretravel used to recommend pre-filling the fuel filters.

Here's the page from my owner's manual from 1993. With today's new filters, like Pierce says using the hand primer pump on the U300 and pumping fuel till it runs out of the secondary filter makes it unecessary to pre-fill. I'll try this method next time. No spills!
