Oil pressure fluctuating

How much should oil pressure fluctuate? My dash gauge normally reads about 50 psi, but today driving the backroads of Georgia at 40-55 mph, the gauge was fluctuating between 35 and 40, and I just don't remember ever seeing that. I hope I'm wrong.

Does it read 20 or over at idle?    Hot.  If so you are probably good.

Any pressure fluctuation from normal is usually a sending unit or a bad ground somewhere. Voltage changes can effect instrument readings.

Yes, with engine warm, at idle it reads 20 psi.
We've done another 600 miles and the engine hasn't seized so I guess we're good.
