Refilling generator cooling system

Hi everyone,
What can I use to pressurize the cooling system when I refill it.
I don't want to over pressurize and cause a problem

Thanks frank

I recently did some maintenance our our generator including flushing the cooling system. I used Prestone's cooling system cleaner after draining the block and radiator. Easy. Then I ran the generator for about 30 minutes with a drain open and then drained the block and radiator again. I bought 100% antifreeze, mixed it with RO water until I had a 50/50 mix and then filled the cooling system with the mix,  ran the engine filling as necessary while watching the temp gauge that I had previously installed. Once I was was confident that all the air was out, I put the new radiator cap on. Also filled the catch tank to the proper line.

I installed new hoses, belt, changed the breather system, filters, etc. Now, I just installed a new type of primary filter with a clear bottom on the filter. I will document that later this week.

I still have a valve adjustment to make as well as checking the injection timing. I may even do a DIY injector overhaul.

If  you have a belt driven fan, it's important to know how to easily adjust it as stretching, slipping, belt overheating and cracking are leading reasons for generator trouble. Good to have a temp gauge on the engine (super easy) and a fuel pressure gauge on the output of the secondary filter.
