Grand villa air dryer

So I'm trying to understand my air dryer. I have a 93 GV 8.3 Cummins. I don't have previous maintenance records so I want the air dryer to be functioning at full capacity. I've attached two pictures to ask the group if either or both of these components are my air dryer. TIA

First picture is your air system DRYER.

Second is your air filter for the engine.

Thanks Wolfe, I appreciate the help, first MH, 1st Diesel, overwhelmed with learning all there is about this. Trying to do as much as I can myself, but some things(rebuilding the air dryer) seem beyond my wheelhouse.

Rather than rebuilding it yourself, I would suggest a factory reman of a newer generation dryer by the same manufacturer as your current dryer.  That way the location of the hose attachments will be the same (confirm this, however).

What make and model dryer do you have?

The coach manual shows a Bendix AD-4, I can't see anything on the dryer itself.

You could have the AD-4 or the AD-9.  If you have the AD-4 you can replace it with the AD-9.  See thread linked below:

You don't need to rebuild the air dryer - this service is provided by rebuilding shops. All you have to do is remove your old dryer, take it to your local NAPA dealer, and trade it in for a fresh rebuilt unit.  There are threads on this Forum explaining this procedure.

Your air filter looks very dirty.  Time for a replacement.  I use the Fleetguard AF954M.  You are missing a flat fiberglass cover that should be mounted over the open end of your air filter. It prevents water ingestion when driving in heavy rain.  See photos in post linked below:

Ya, Bendix factory reman AD-9 would be a fine choice.

Here is the link for NAPA REMAN BENDIX AD9

You can also buy a ad4 reman from Napa.

There is a 25 off 100 sale going on.

I am in the process of converting bendix ad4 to ad9

You needs the pig tail connector. Bendix BW Amazon.com: Bendix BW 109869N Harness HTR: Automotive]109869N[/url] Harness HTR

I think 1 1/2 wrench is needed to take off the hose.

I'm not sure it needs replacing, I purged the front air tanks, only air came out, the wet tank does not have a purge valve(that I can see). I disconnected the fitting, let out some air, no moisture or white powder, so I'm thinking that I'm okay for now?

It would be a good idea to change the cartridge`/filter.  Bad stuff happens if it fails or passes water.  I went to a modern spin on and change it annually.

Check the driver side rear wheel well, in front of outside tire, down low and tucked inside the wheel well lip.  Little brass 1/4 turn valve.
