1986 GV Suspension Diagram (1985 Oshkosh)

I've had this for a while and never thought to post it here. I received it from a Freightliner parts rep when I inquired about shocks and air springs.

I was able to cross reference the air springs for these Firestone model numbers:

Front: W01-358-9308
Rear: W01-358-9070

I hope this info is of some assistance.

This shows my axles perfectly . My chassis is dated 11/87.
FWIW the front air bags mount on a box directly above the axle . The axle covers the mounting studs/ nuts. This requires removing the axle to release the mounting pad and air bag nuts.
To remove the axle;  wheel chuulk  3  wheels. Set the front  jacks touching the ground plus 1 in( leave the rears up) .  Jack one side of the axle off of the ground enough to remove the wheel, 4x4 block the front at the trailing arm mounts.  Safety block a couple of places , plus the jack stand, plus  the leveler jacks, plus the 12 T jack.  Try to not die.
I made a big jack stand to hit the front of the frame. You will have the axle loose and must support the entire nose of the bus .
The axle  mounting studs are " staked"  that is they will come loose but not come all of the way off without either running a thread die  or a die grinder around the end of the studs so that the nuts will come off.
Loosen all of the axle mount nuts, remove the side missing the wheel  and let the axle down onto a stack of your 4x4 s or 6x6 :)  I used a auto floor jack for the axle . It is heavy.
The rest is simply find the nuts and remove  until the bag can be removed.  Fit bag, blue thread lock  the nuts as you assemble.
Start the axle nuts about 3 threads. Fit wheel/tire ,snug  wheel nuts. Repeat on the other side .
