What does the C mean in U295C?

Hello everyone, I am new to the Foretravel world as I just purchased a 1995 U295C that I will be doing some front end repairs on. I currently own a 1994 Holiday Rambler Navigator that I have been restoring and documenting on iRV2. I look forward to being a part of this site! Seems like a  ton of great information and a wonderful community.

My first question that I can't seem to find in a search, what does the C mean in the U295C. It seems from what I have found the 1995 was the first year of the bus style front end. It also appears that it is the only year that uses the C after the model. Does anyone know what that means??

If I had to hazard a guess, since 1995 was the crossover year from Unihome/Grand Villa (angled front) to Unicoach (bus front), I'd say it was used to distinguish the model as a Unicoach.

Also, the Forum wiki for 1995 shows C at the end of U295 and U320 which were the new bus-front models, unlike U280 and U300 that year which were Grand Villas

I have been restoring and documenting on iRV2.

Hope you do the same here for those of us who are not part of the other site.

That looks like the coach that owner forgot to set parking brake last year and it rolled into the back of a semi trailer. Sounds like not your first rodeo so you should be fine. Welcome

It may have been a designation for a custom order.  Another member had a 1995 U320C without an AquaHot which in the early ones was an option. Just guessing. Maybe it stands for crunched.  Good luck with repairs.  As long as you have to do the headlights on one side you might as well do them on both and improve night time driving

Thanks for all the great replies. I am guessing it had to do with the crossover year from GV to bus style.

If there is interest I will definitely post at both sites when I rebuild. The last project rebuild I documented pretty well and I really enjoyed posting it all and hearing feedback etc. It's kind of like having a cheer squad to keep you motivated just a little more when things get tough :) I have used forums for 20+ years now but never really posted any projects. It's my turn to provide some content and hopefully save someone some trouble or questions down the road.

This is the exact coach that the parking brake was left off and it rolled. He waited through the winter trying to make a decision on what to do with it. He posted it for sale and I was lucky enough to be the first to respond. I almost walked away from it when we didn't quite meet on price but a couple hours after I had left from inspecting it I called him back and said, lets just do it!

After having time to look at the pic. of the damage on the passengers side it looks like the hardest thing you have to do is source a new/used door and frame. The step work isn't not complicated and you will find several here that have done step repair due to water intrusion. The step frame is angle iron and box tubing found at any metal distributor. The fiberglass work is just that but while at it I would upgrade the the headlights on the drivers side rather than going back with those Ford headlights.

Yeah I agree Mike. He sold it to me with a new set of headlights but perhaps I should just look into upgrading the whole thing. The door will be the hardest part but I think it's manageable.  Having good headlights really is nice driving these old rigs. I was lucky enough that my previous coach had already had headlight upgrade done. It was nice to have.

Yes, we all love restoration/upgrade/repair posts, although Acousticart and a few others have set the bar pretty high, any posts are VERY appreciated!!!

Good luck and keep us updated.

A great resource to talk to is Xtreme paint and graphics in NAC tex - Greg is the best bet on talking about door options, they will know where and what is available le if anything.

that looks to be $12-$15K to repair at Xtreme, but that would include headlights and you wouldn't be able to tell it from new.

hope you are rolling by summer.

Where is the coach?  Looks like you are in MN about 15 miles from me.

Does the 1995 have the narrower door?

Ohh I would never let someone have all that fun without me, I will be fixing it myself! I would have guessed 10-15k for someone to fix it but I will enjoy the project.  I have seen this Xtreme company mentioned very often. They must do good work but I am pretty handy. I am a general contractor, certified welder, rebuild engines, etc. My body work will be my weakest link but I have worked with fiberglass quite a bit and sprayed a few projects over the years. I am always chasing the bar set by some of these posted projects.

Roger and Susan, I am in MN just north of downtown Afton on the St Croix. We are very close!

Michelle yes this is the narrow 95-96 24" round top door.

Please, please!  Many more Foretravel fans are here than iRV2, since this is a dedicated (and ad-free) non-commercial site.  We love to see all projects, big and small!
