2001 U320 dash air switch

So last time I took coach out couldn't get the dash air to work then halfway thru realized it was working. Today I found the culprit. Plastic dash air switch body failing. Will temp repair by using tie cord to hold both half's together but would like to order a new switch to have in reserve. Any one have a source

I seem to recall it's either a Ford or Chevy control panel and switches...

8 position rotary knob.  Looks like we bought one from FOT in 2011 and were invoiced for GH7289-ND.  A search on that turns up

I figured guessing it would be a Ford? Put two strands around top and bottom kinda diagonally and two around lock clips to keep them from relaxing again. Probably be fine but I'll still order a switch even if I never install. If I don't I won't even get out of town before it fails again. LOL

Thank you so much will order tonight. Reinstalled switch with patch on it and light came on. There was a Nokia phone box and a xm receiver secured to the wire bundle going to the ac switch basically using the switch/bundle for a tie off point. Removed and tossed xm receiver for now and routed the harness above the ac duct to unload stress on harness. No stress on switch and the system now operates on command for the first time ever. Crisis diverted

My dash A/C was doing some odd things so I bought a replacement mode switch and fan speed switch from FT.  My mode switch had 8 wires with male spades coming off the back of it in a circular pattern.

That jives with the 8 position rotary switch info I'd found.  We paid $82 back in 2011 (10 years ago).  I'm seeing the switches online at electronic supply houses for about 1/2 that today.

I think the biggest thing to me was the cause. Hanging equipment of a plastic rotary switch. Not good. I think mine is resolved but will get replacement anyway. I'm sure there are many more with the exact same condition waiting to hit that one Pothole and have it fail.

Really thought this would be a easy followup. Was hoping to purchase a assembled assembly. Looked at parts for some of the Ford van years back to 1997 and non are mounted the same. May just make a inquiry to Foretravel and see what they say. Kieth had recently purchased one from them so I know they are available assembled. I'm 100% sure my switch issues are resolved but prevention always seems prudent. Excessive stress on the harness was the cause IMO

You don't happen to see a molded-in or stickered p/n on the mounting panel, do you?  Maybe back side of the panel?

There is nothing Ford about the 2001 dash air.  Only year like it.  It's all SGM and Javelina.  SGM offered replacement switches for a while, but no longer support the brand.  I have been begging Foretravel engineering to come up with a replacement to no avail.  If more of us 2001 owners will start bugging Foretravel, maybe they will start paying attention.

So Charles (reply#9) took the photo information and found out the switch manufacturer is still in Business and we should not have a problem buying the switch. The small circuit board could easily get a new switch installed. This would not be a issue and well within my skill set. I did secure my half's together with tie cord and I'm less concerned about them than I originally was. Main issue is still it was installed incorrectly and used to support other equipment. If that is addressed it should be okay. I'm way busy getting ready to drive across the state's  twice in the next two weeks to worry much more about it till later. If someone reaches out to the manufacturer about the switches I doubt they will be more than $10 apiece. I would be willing to buy several and rebuild them especially since I have spare time at work to do them. Bruce if you need one PM me and we can set that up for you.

The pictures in the original post show all the numbers. I did look for a assembly number first thing. If we can order individual switches this won't be a issue for anyone other than the additional shipping incurred going to one location for repair and back.

Sure is nice having dash air conditioning switch working correctly. 95 degrees currently. Turned the coach around prepping to leave and notice dash vent thermometer, makes me very happy. Vent 50 degrees. Coach was heat saturated so should do better on the road.
