Diagnostic ports. 12 pin and 9 pin in the same coach?

As far as I know from 2001 on our coaches have a round 9 pin diagnostic port located on the wall to the left of the driver's foot well.  There is also one in the engine bay.

Does any one have a 12 pin rectangular connection as well?  This picture is from a 2003 U320.  Any idea what it does or why it is there?

Any electronic coach 1996 or earlier should have a 12 pin rectangular OBD2 connector under the dash. I have an adapter to go to our ProLink 9000 from that. Not very expensive on ebay.

The U300s with the 2 cycle may be the only ones with the 12 pin as I don't know of any other early electronic Foretravels. I think the Allisons used the 12 pin also.

I am not looking for older coaches with the only the 12 pin connections, I am looking for 2001 and newer with both a round 12 pin port and a 12 pin rectangular port.

Why is it there and why was it added?

The picture posted is not a standard OBDII interface.  They have angled sides and 16 pins.

I have both plugs. VMSPC is connected into the rectangle 12 pin plug.

I've got the same Richard.  I'm also connected to the 12-pin now and have all data.  The 9-pin worked, but did not show transmission gear info, retarder temp or odometer stuff in the trip meter.

We are the only 2?

Scott, you will not find a 12 pin plug on a 2001..  It seems having both are only 2003s as far Is I have discovered yet.

So your '01 has both and my '03 has both.  Need to ask @fourdayoff if he has both on his '02, when he comes up for air.
