Generator Cleaning

How do folks clean their generator compartment? The coach I bought has a consolidated unit installed. No remote radiator and fan. It pulls air through the radiator from beneath in the front of the unit and exhausts it out the rear from beneath. Which means all that air passes through the generator compartment. The PO must have run it a lot parked on dirt and sand. And seldom if ever cleaned it. I had it blown out but it needs a better cleaning. I asked the storage facility. It is a full service facility if they could de-grease and pressure wash. They said that wasn't a good idea. I too was concerned about water getting into the generator section. I said what if after washing you blew the generator section out real good and let it sit for a week without the covers on to make sure it is dry before starting. They didn't like that idea either. I certainly don't what to fry the generator. So I wondered what other people here do to keep your generator clean.
