Light in entry door handle

Does anyone know the bulb part number ( and maybe a good led replacement if possible) for the clear entry door handle. I have mine out but can't read the numbers on it

Find the bulb base here:

Couple months ago I ordered some LED bulbs for our lighted handle.  They have a BA9S base and fit perfectly in my handle.  I got the amber hoping it would attract fewer bugs.  They also have white and blue colors.  Link below:

So I possibly may be a bit rouge but I used a led replacement light that I was installing in all the gold round Halogen lights. Yes it didn't quite fit in the allotted space and I literally ground it down to fit on the bench grinder. Yes some of the leds didn't work after being butchered but it has worked fine since I had installed. I would repeat if needed.

I like the brand you mentioned.  Are the amber ones bright enough ?  I would hate to order 6 of them only to think I would have been better with the white ones

Bright enough for what?  "Brightness" is a pretty subjective term, at least in this case.  I found the light entirely adequate for the purpose, but not so bright as to be irritating.  Not sure if that helps...

Just remember that the circuity runs from diode to diode, with voltage to each location.  Cutting the substrate risks exposing 12VDC hot wiring where it can unintentionally "power" or short to things that touch the exposed conductors.

This would be akin to running a Sawzall through your house wall to cut in a new doorway and leaving the cut wires as they sat (albeit those would be 120 VAC).

I did disclose it was a bit rogue. Yes you will need to tape around the perimeter. But they were readily available and worked , working well. I actually have a scotch bright wheel and polished it off to clear. In rereading this yes a sawzall sounds a bit excessive even for me.
In regards to LEDs and there individual brightness and color. Kelvin is how the color is rated in regards to the temperature required to produce a color and lumens for intensity. It is not to be compared to candlepower for it is completely different although more lumens requires more power just as with candlepower. Most LEDs run on under 4 volts. I promise to keep any questionable rogue modifications quiet in the future. I do agree that a sawzall on house wiring would turn out badly.

That sort of looks like a bayonet base 53 or 57 old style dash light, commonly found at most parts houses in packs of 2. If I recall the 53 was a 3w and the 57 was a 5w, 1 a bit brighter than the other. However, like so many I would go with an LED version, just to trim a bit of electrical power consumption  and have incredibly longer life. Wattage and brightness a bit harder to dermine on the new LED's as you see so many variants. With the old style for the last 60 years you sort of knew what you were getting as it was the norm and all DIY's knew what they were getting. Nowadays, you have to get a few and try them out.
Chucks recommended link is one of many sources that would fit the bill. If like me you like the old incandescent glow and dont care for the blaring white light, go with an amber or around 3000kelvin.

The Kelvin Scale
Light color, or color temperature, is measured using the Kelvin scale. LEDs are available in warm colors (low k) to match the yellowish light of incandescent bulbs, but you can also choose cooler colors (high k) with whiter or bluer light. Here's a color temperature chart for reference:

Bulbs, what type, what color, how to modify or not, how and where to install what types aside.....I would just like to know what is the process by which to access the bulb that is for the illuminated handle?

Anybody willing to share details.

Pretty simple actually.  Take the screws out of the bottom chrome end piece, pull it down so the Lucite handle comes out of the sockets, and you should see the bulb inside the top chrome piece.  The wire that makes the bulb light up (when you touch the handle) should be in the bottom chrome piece.  Your 2001 model coach may, or may not, have the "touch control" feature.

I've had my U-295 for a year now and never knew the door handle lights up.  So I pulled the hand off and found a burned-out bulb.  Replaced it with an incandescent bulb and ordered a LED in amber color to replace it.

I don't know what I love more, the build technology in this 1999 coach or the fact this Board gives me better information then I could ever buy.

Thanks to all that contribute.

Question: I have always assumed the 270 does not have a lighted handle?? Am I correct?
If it does have a light is the bulb in the base?
Thanks
