Love Our DHS System

Well the 10 disc changer took a dump, and the dash Kenwood was dim to see, and only a cassette player. On Top of that, was using a cigarette lighter, bluetooth gizmo to unused radio station, which actually worked nice to stream Apple music.

Been running the MTS amp from a TV output, but always was weak volume, especially listening to music with inmotion satellite.

So broke down and got this Pioneer CD player, love it. Ran audio cables down to the aux input. So can listen to the sat receiver direct. I realize there are other nice stereos that will work, I have always been fond of Pioneers because of their tuners.

I always thought the MTS was surround sound, but it's not. The next version up is. I don't really care, it sounds terrific. In all this messing around, found my Dish VP211 has an audio setting in the menus, that changes the output a bunch louder and clearer.

One thing I learned about the DHS system is, it utilizes the four cube speakers for most the sound, the two 6X9's are mostly bass, which I believe the amp jacks up. I never really looked, but thought the box under the sofa was a subwoofer, which in actuality it is. Kind of a cool simple design. I will post at the bottom what I found about the system. It is edited to be shorter.

So now with the MTS theater switch in stereo mode, I can switch the pioneer to stream my Apple music, sat audio, CD player or radio with the supplied remote. Even the hands free works awesome through the DHS speakers and supplied mic.

I actually researched a bunch to change out to a home type amp, but that would require leaving the big inverter on, or changing out my dedicated 200 watt PSW TV/Sat inverter. But I like it, and we leave it on 24/7 to keep the sat receiver loaded. With our solar, can go 24/7 no problem. we do a lot of dry camping, especially at the races.

Here is the schematic for the MTS amp, and the deck we bought. The MTS system is pretty simple stupid. I like it. The Pioneer is simple to set up, especially with all the things it does.
Cheers
Chris

**** NOTE the 10 way molex plug is not used, or do you use speaker outs on deck. Just the RCA preamps.*****

DHS are the initials for the Don Hamilton System. Don Hamilton is an Electronics Engineer who holds the distinction of being one of the renown "Golden Ears" for a major audio component manufacturer. Aside from his duties there, Mr.Hamilton designed and engineered both systems described here, exclusively for RiverPark Inc., who is an Original Equipment Manufacturer to the Motorhome Industry. The system is basically "a behind the scene system" that requires a true stereo signal with no adjustments.

DHS MTS represents Mobile Theatre System. This system was designed to enhance the Dash Radio & TV performance with a specially designed amplifier module and a series of special speakers.

When the Mobile theater Speaker Switch set to the stereo or video mode, special Internal Circuitry with in the DHS MTS System sense a 2 channel stereo signal and brings DHS MTS System out of "sleep Mode" and automatically turns on a 32 band per channel Equalizer and a Processor that synthesizes 4 channel stereo (left and right front cube speakers),(left and right rear cube speakers) and (both 6x9" subwoofer speakers). Each channel is 12 watts.

Due to the environment of the coach, channel (speaker) adjustability is not available. This system uses active frequency equalization to compensate for the interior of a Motorhome while keeping the system flexible and simple. When the Radio or TV is turned OFF, the DHS MTS System senses no stereo signal and switches into "sleep Mode"

Thank you for your detailed post, and including the diagram.  I too have retained the MTS system and love running off 12v.  I installed not that expensive of an Alpine 12v radio/cd player from Crutchfield.  I did this as a temporary improvement and now this may end up being permanent.  I am also running a digital output from my Samsung smart TV thru the System.  I am totally pleased with my "temporary", improvement.

You are welcome.
They sell the amps on ebay for $30.00 delivered new old stock. If I can find the surround one, might get one, it plugs in the same, but you need a center speaker. If not, totally happy with this amp.

I also found a new old control switch, bought it for a spare. I moved mine out of the cabinet onto the facia cloth next to TV. In a pinch I can reach up and switch it. A guy could run 2 wires down to the dash, and put a on/off/on switch to control the amp for the 2 different sources, and turn it on. All the theater switch does, is power the brown or orange wire, to tell the amp to turn on and switch inputs. The other 2 are power and ground for the switch light.

When traveling, we have the video input on for the inmotion sat TV. But sometimes we want to switch to the dash stereo. But now that I ran the satellite output through the stereo, might not be an issue. Will just leave it in Stereo mode, I can access everything. Just no TV volume control with TV remote, but can with stereo remote

Cheers

Thank you again, for $30 I decided to buy another for backup.  I knew they were used in limousines, however, I did not know by Cadillac from 2000-2006.

Thank You
That is the surround version (center speaker), Foretravel didn't use that one.
I have that one too. If I find one of those amps, going to change mine out, ad a center speaker
