Headboard removal

How do I remove the headboard on our 1993 coach? There are three "buttons" near the bottom. Do they pop off and reveal screws? I don't want to tear things up until I've got some idea of what I'm doing.

I'll see if I can post a picture of one of those "buttons" later.

David,

On our '92 you take a butter knife and pop the covers off and this will expose a Phillips screw. Remove those and the mirror will lift off a couple of hangers.

Mike's short answer is Yes on the buttons and screws.

Here's what I'm talking about.

So, Mike, all I have to do is pop those three buttons off, remove the screws, and the headboard will be free?

Those are them.  Pop the covers off and remove the Phillips screws.  Then you can lean the bottom of the headboard a couple inches away from the bulkhead and push up on it to release it from the upper retaining rail.  At least that is how it worked on my coach.

On ours that was all it takes.  There are 2 stand off blocks that has hangers on them to hold the top half to the back wall.  Once the screws are out then lift up about 1/2" and then it should come out between the cabinets.

Thanks. Looks like that's this weekend's project. That's the last of the original green in the coach. Depending on what we find behind there we will either recover the headboard or possibly just do away with it.

We had a blue headboard and did that procedure. Behind that is paneling like the rest of your coach.

"Behind that is paneling like the rest of your coach." I wish. Behind the headboard is plain, unfinished plywood. The two brackets mount through the mirror. I suppose I could get another mirror, and finish the plywood, or put something else under the mirror. We'll see what the boss says.
