Need help with 3 fuel filters at front of 2002 U320

On my 2002 thirty-six foot U320. I believe I have 3 different fuel filters at the front of the coach. On my previous U270 and U320, I only had 2 filters I have attached pictures and the following information
1-   The first picture is the Aqua Hot Fuel filter in the outside bay under drivers seat area. I am used to a filter being in this location
2-   The second picture is what I believe to be the fuel filter on the front of the generator. I am used to a filter being in this location but have not seen this type of filter before
3-   The last 2 pictures are of a fuel filter located about a foot behind the front axle. I am not familiar with a filter being in this location and am not sure of where the fuel going thru this filter is going. I also question the location. This filter could easily be damaged by road debris. I wonder if this was added by a previous owner for some reason
My questions are:
1-   Has anyone else seen a filter located in the area behind the front axle?
2-   Could I remove the filter with the water drain and replace with just a fuel filter only. That would eliminate the risk of the water sediment bowl being broken by road debris
3-   If I change the filter am I at risk of having problems with air in the fuel lines?
4-   I am open to any advice, guidance, and suggestions.
Thank you in advance

The one behind the front axle is for the genset on mine.  And yes, it does seem very unprotected. I thought about moving it higher.

What happens if the plastic bowl comes off or breaks, will fuel siphon out of the tank?

I also have those 3 filters in the same place. 18 years and 120,000 miles and haven't been broken yet.

I too have the same three filters in the same locations.  The black plastic one on the generator is a Fleetguard filter and I had no trouble sourcing it on line.  There should be a part number on it.  Mine was on the back side which I couldn't see and didn't see until I removed it.  I took no special precautions to avoid fuel leakage from the fuel lines and very little fuel leaked out.  I would recommend that you allow the fuel level in the tank to get as low as possible prior to changing these filters since the one on the generator and the one by the front axle are relatively low as compared to the fuel tank.

It's for the generator. Doubtful it would get damaged without other major damage. The electric pump should clear the air out of the line when starting generator. May take couple of start attempts. Never had a problem even with new empty fuel lines. Same with aqua hot.
