Update on 1998 U320 For Sale in Fort Morgan Colorado

There is a 1998 U320 for sale in Fort Morgan Colorado that has many issues, most significant is the rear bulkhead failure.  Motorcade number is 14477, not sure of the build number.  Hopefully the seller will be upfront and honest regarding the condition of the coach.

If the coach in question had a bulkhead failure because of a water leak, that should not eliminate it from a sale but if it's because of corrosion from road chemicals, it's worth less than zero unless it's to be parked and used as a guest house. The winter road treatment will find it's way everywhere in the undercarriage and engine compartment resulting in constant repairs to the radiator, electrical, etc. Just taking fasteners loose becomes a challenge and any kind of shop repair will be extremely expensive. "Many issues" would indicate poor maintenance to me. Best to find a clean coach and have it inspected before thinking about getting out your checkbook.

I do not know the seller, I have not seen the coach in person.  The photos look nice.

Years ago, we were interested in a house for sale.  The seller's agent, "wanting to be helpful," provided us with the report from an in-depth home inspection.  I did my own looking around, and discovered the cracked slab under the new carpet in the bedroom.  Interesting that it was not on the report.  I notified the agent in writing about the defect.

The point is, if you're not sure, you can play innocent.  Once you know, you become a liar.  A person responded to the Facebook post, and made it very clear the coach had bulkhead issues.  So the seller knows.

I can't say if the coach has potential or estimate the value.  I will say that I find liars disgusting.  Praise for this forum for looking after the honest people.  SOMEONE will find out if the seller is being honest about the condition of the coach.

Matt,

The biggest percentage of RV owners don't have the background to know much more than how to start the coach and put it in gear. Expecting the seller to disclose the faults is being optimistic. So, they don't have a clue to what's going on and will lie, minimize the damage or use many other decptions. It's up to the buyer to inspect or hire an inspector. Nothing the seller says reduces the buyer's responsibility. Always count your fingers after shaking hands.

It was filthy, outside even had mold growing on the hood. Inside the headliner was sagging so much the bathroom door was hitting it and dragging. The vinyl headliner seam (in the cabinets and bath) was discolored so I poked my finger in there and all of the staples were rusted through for about 6'. I pointed this out and that the bath vent cover was cracked allowing water to enter. The guy said he inherited it from his father and knew absolutely nothing about it. Guess he couldn't see how dirty it was. I feel sorry for anyone who travels to see this one. The ad is still up.
