Slide Issue

My coach is 2000 U320 with one slide.  Slide problem when retracting.  Slide moves in and stops, pump continues to run with red light on, locking bolts do not move to engage receiver holes.  I believe there is a locking sensor that would allow this malfunction.  Where is this sensor located?  And is it something a somewhat mechanical old man can replace or is this a job for the shop?  These symptoms have been intermittent the last couple times traveled, but now seems consistent.

I'm sure Scott (DSD) will be along shortly to give you the info.  He has the same setup on his 2000.

See reply #40 in this thread:  Living room slide bladder DIY - Page 2  Do you have that indicator panel?  If so, it will show which one is the holdout.

In that same thread, you can see the upper locking pin mechanisms in reply #50.  They are bolted to the structure of the coach just above the slide, behind the header covering.  You can also just see it on the far left side of picture one in rely #82.  The floor locks can be seen in the 2nd picture in reply #82.

I believe the sensor that tells the system if the pin is down or not is a hall effect sensor.

Bill I think you have a similar system. So there Is two position sensor and magnets on the top of the slide that inicate when the slide has retracted and can open the solenoid for the lock sensors. I would suspect one i not triggering the sensor. If you stop and look outside the coach is the slide position correct, not too far in or out. I'm currently having the exact same issue and because my slide was in alignment I fooled the switches with two additional magnets to allow the slide to lock. I will be working the fault but needed to use our coach. WARNING damage may result if fooling switch without slide fully retracted or tipping in too far. The sensors are there for a failsafe purpose. On mine there is a position indicator led box that shows switch position

Bill, the sensors are not hard to replace, it is getting at them that is.  I had one replaced at HWH and have a spare. I'm have an intermittent one that sometimes works and other times does not, only when bringing the room in. If the pump doesn't shut off after a second or two after getting the slide all the way in release the retract button.  Before turning the key to reinflate the bladder you can look along the top of the slide from the drivers seat end to see if the pins are down.  A thin bladed spatula (like a frosting spreader) will make contact with the pins along the bottom if they are down.  Mine always are, I know it is a sensor.

There is a switch in the aluminum box, about the size of a big cake pan, that let's you bypass the interlock.  Remove the flat cover, careful with the screws. The switch is in the corner towards the inside and rear of the coach.  I used a hole saw and cut an access hole to get at it without having to remove the cover.

Roger you have a lock actuator sensor issue. This is prevalent after the lock actuators have been extended and yours is missing a fully extended signal.
Bills is not seeing the slide retracted and preventing the pins from extending.
