simple question HWH

If the HWH leveling system fails, does it disable the coach?  My reading of the topic posts around hear SUGGESTS that the ride leveling is independent, but I am not yet convinced.

No issues yet, just prioritizing my maintenance.  The six-packs are pretty dirty and corroded, and probably not touched since new.

There isn't a simple answer as there are too many variables. I will say on your age coach if the travel solenoids are not burnt up you can take a couple of jumpers and feed 12vdc to them (this is done inside the HWH control box in the basement) and this will let you go on down the road. There is a past member that had a major HWH failure and was able to get half way across the US like this before the system could be fixed properly.

Definitely independent, Scott used his as Mike stated almost a year.

Matt on initial purchase my HWH computer was internally shorted out and by the guidance of Mike was able to seek the direction and find the information I needed to go power up the travel circuit. Since I was doing one circuit I also needed the raise function to also work. I did it at the same time. To get out of the raise position I would go back to travel position.  I have been meaning to write up a description on how I did this and will follow up when I go back to work on Saturday if they dont beat me up work. I HATE CUTTING FACTORY WIRING HARNESSES FOR ANY REASON but to accomplish this it must be done. I also recommend being able to end up with modifications that will outlast the life of the coach and never be cause to future problems. Environmental splices and proper crimping tools. I eventually would like to install a override panel down in the storage compartment which would enable me with a flip of a switch operate both air ride manually and operation of the slide manually. Not with the intent of ever using, just with the security of having it available if I ever did need it. Please  understand this would be outside of the safety devices and used out of sequence would inflict damage. Currently with what I originally installed I can put the coach into ride mode in about 10 minutes bypassing HWH system. Chuck is correct I drove 2 1/2 times across the USA locked in travel mode only.

I've seen it mentioned before where with some degree of HWH failure you can get to ride height then pull a fuse in the basement behind the fiberglass cover and drive. Wish someone would give a refresher post on that situation while on the subject.

Why not just bypass the six pack entirely and feed air directly to the ride height control valves from the line that feeds the six pack? There would be very few moving parts involved and all mechanical.

Seems like there was a write up on this several years ago, could even have been back during the Yahoo time. I will snoop around and see if I can locate it and re post or add a link.

Foretravel started putting air fitting in one of the compartments where you can air up or deflate any air bag you want to.  They have schrader valves at the end of each line.  I have had to use them when my HWH dash display decided to go south on me.  They worked great.  The only good part was I was at FOT when the display decided to take a hike.  I was nervous when I was airing them up to get the coach in the shop because I did not what to twist the coach.  I have since put besides them the pressure each one needs for normal ride height for my coach.

On the older coaches if you pull the fuse marked "Travel" the bags will stay at where you put them manually. I have also had to do that to take a trip

Saw your post and had to chime in. What I am going to try to describe isn't hard but may take 2 or 3 tries to make you understand what to do. First you most likely are working on a older 600 series. So I will work from that assumption.

1st off  if all the lights are on on the control panel the microprocessor is most likely shot.

2ND YES you can fool the system so you can travel (as long as the travel valves and the height control valves are working)
Crawl into bay that has the HWH box in it and remove the cover. You should be able to see that there are 11 fuses. To the right side of them is where your wiring harness are attached to the board. There are 2 harness that have 6 wires each. One comes from the front manifold and the other from the rear. Once you have these located gently unplug them. This will stop all functions from the computer to the air manifolds.

Look for 2 gray wires. The one in the front harness should be labled 1700 and the rear 3700. Now that you have these 2 wires located here is what I didn't want to put on the site. You can get 2 jumper wires and jumper 12vdc from the 12 volt supply (should be a red wire labled 6100) to these 2 wires and this will open your travel solenoids. All the others will remain closed due to no way that they can get power.

What this does is puts all 4 travel solenoids and the other 8 solenoids in the same configuration as they would be when you are in travel mode. The height control valves are manual and have no voltage to them only air that is supplied through the open travel solenoids.

Now the pitfalls:
1. the bigest is if your jumpers fall off the travel solenoids will close and you can start loosing air through some possible leaks in the system. To keep this from happening you can tape up your connections for added security.
2. Once you get the coach moved you have to remove the jumpers so you won't have voltage left going to the solenoids while unattended.
3. You probally should have a 15 amp fuse in the jumper system just in case something should short out. (this is a CYA statement)
4. If any of the 4 travel solenoids or any of the height control valves are bad then you have bigger problems.(most likely not an issue just something to look for)
5. As air pressure builds you should be able to see the coach come to travel height. Make sure all 4 corners are coming up so you don't twist a winshield out.

Once you have done all this and you get air pressure up you should be good to go.

I used the ignition power wire to the HWH so then the key would shut off just as it did prior. The other reason to go this route was it was really closely available. KISS
