Dump valve cable failure

2006 nimbus 336.

Cable seems to have broken trying to close the valve.

Valve not sealed.

Any difference from older coaches. In Tatum Tx heading back to Waller tx arriving on the 20th. I will probably wait untill then before tackling the repair unless there is a simple solution on this era of coaches.

The cable likely slipped in the clamp at the dump valve, versus being broken.

If the cable pull is indeed broken, you will likely be buying a much longer cable pull then you actually need.  It can be cut down in length using a Dremel cut off wheel.  Impossible to cut with a hacksaw.

The problem is going to be getting to it. Fixing should be obvious when I get it where I can see it. 😕

I repaired the seals in my valves. It wasn't too bad to get at it, it just takes time so
that is why I put in the third valve and that can be repaired in minutes.

Yes I was thinking the same. Third valve could keep control of the problem till I was back home. 👍👍

Like Dan said, I'd guess the cable slipped.  It's held in place with an allen screw.  In my rig it takes 5 screws to get the wet bay top panel off, pull out of the way and you can access the cables/valves.

The black valve was real difficult to move. Put lots of strain on the cable. I will have to address that also. Silicon spray on the cable helped.

Checked the valve today.

Had sewer hookup at last stop. Did a thorough flush and drain of both tanks.

When home I put the motorhome in the shop. Raised it put in stands and dumped air. Placed wash tub under the dump opened the valves and left over night.

Removed the top panel.
Removed the screws from the bottom and tilted it as much as possible.

The black cable outer tube was pulled out of the mount. Loosened the clamps and removed the cable. Cannot move the black valve by hand. It is stuck I overstressed the cable and damaged it. Valve body is the problem.

Ordered two 3inch bodies and one cable. Arriving tomorrow. Will replace at least the black body and the damaged cable.

One of the four bolts is Difficult to reach. I might replace the fresh body might not. It works fine. No signs of water in compartment.

Will provide photos and tips later.

Always replace both at the same time. Much easier to replace if both are disconnected and if you don't then sometime in the near future the other one will go bad.

I got rid of those cables after spending way to much trying to fix them, like 4 times!  Cut everything out and re=plumbed the system and all good now!  Just an FYI!

So you say replace both? Do the bodies need to be replaced also or just all the moving parts. Mine have worked perfect since we have had the coach but I would carry spares if I can figure out what to get.
