How about Mike at Protech Racing on our forum? He is using electric fans and might have a source for a fan or a work around.

Hope the info above does the trick.

How about filling in all your information for your rig? Year, model, length, engine, interior layout, build number if possible. This can really help as others with the same coach can chime in for anything you need.

Thanks,

I have done this. Exact model and engine. Have to get to the coach for records Saturday. In the meantime will search around here. This is an exact replacement blade, bolt on. Actually, did it from the top down. Had to remove bed. Know I have this stuff somewhere. May have even posted it.

I added part numbers to the fan thread.  It may work for you , may not .  I have 20 -30 hrs getting it where it is today .  Buy it could be replicated in about 10  , plus whatever you want to do the the engine door.
This needs  a lot of 12 V amps  for sure and Im not sure how many it uses .  Between the fans and the AC my solar chargers and inverters are working hard.

Suspect quite a heat load difference between a Caterpillar 3208 and Detroit Diesel 6V92.

How much torque does the DD make?  How much fuel does it burn?

If it is 6-7 mpg than it needs more radiator than 10 liter at 9 mpg .

DRP's year was programmed for 300hp and 890 ft lbs because Allison didn't make a transmission that would handle the torque of the 350 hp and 1020 ft lbs until they came out with the 746HT. Even then, Allison's 6 speed would not handle the torque so U300 owners got stuck with the 4 speed. That's why I have to back up my driveway. 90 feet elevation change in 300 feet.

The DDEC Detroits only need the ECU reprogrammed to change the HP from 250 to 630 for marine use. Unless you have a fire dept engine serial number, Detroit HQ won't program the 6V-92TA for more than 350hp. Typical for them is 350 for the small pumpers, 440 for large and 500hp for the ladder trucks. But, the side radiator for the '92 to '94 U300 is not large enough for more HP. That's why Foretravel went from one fan in 1992 to the two fan setup in 1993 models.

Mike, our U300 has recorded exactly 8.0 mpg since new (electronic readout, was 7.9 when we bought it) and will get almost 12 mpg from our house to San Francisco. And we live in the Sierras where every drive is full throttle or Jake.

All GVs would not need any more radiator if it had been placed in the nose where it belongs.

What are the radiator measurements?  for the rear setup?    Sounds like it should have a larger radiator than my baby Cat 3208 .
How big is the fan ?

Thank you for all the information Pierce,  7mpg is what I get.  I contacted Flex O Lite and they quit making those fans two years ago.  I'm working with  Josh Harsany in Detroit Mi I m hoping he maybe able to come up with something.  Parts guys at Foretravel didn't have anything I have a call in to tech support also for their input. Any help is greatly appreciated!!

DRP,

If you have access to a Pro-Link 9000, you can even check the gallons your coach has used since new and the fuel mileage since new. It's also handy to see any codes the ECU has recorded. Someone will probably have one at Quartzsite. This reading is from 2013 as I remember.

It's a good tool to have as it can diagnose any problems the same as the Detroit dealer (or Cummins, CAT, Allion, Meritor). You can find the reader/cartridge on FB Marketplace or ebay for around $100 if lucky, less than $200 if not so lucky. And others will try and get a fortune for the tool and cartridge. This is a used price as the new models are a couple of thousand $ I have the factory user manual also in PDF format. It's free to anyone interested.

If interested, send me a PM and I will try and help you find one. Attachment shows the reader from the front. only as the cartridge slides in on the back side. This works on all Foretravels with the 2 cycle engine.
