How to Connect SliverLeaf or BlueFire to older coach w/o OBD connector

I was recently shown the Silverleaf and BlueFire Dash Board..  When I looked for the OBD2 connector on my coach  I discovered I do not have one. I called Foretravel and  was told my coach was too old to have one and it had an old ABS type system and is a dinosaur.  I have read others with older coaches have successfully added these dashboards.  Where is the data coming from and how is it connected? Thanks in advance.

If you have an electronic engine, you have the plug under the dash in front of your left knee and close to the wall. It should be 12 pin but not all pins are used. Connecting to it may require an adapter but they are not expensive and available. I can post the photo of ours on our 1993 U300.

There is also an Allison port there so don't confuse the two. A lot of shops have. Our engine port has the 12 pins in two rows, not round.

My 99 has the plus sitting in the drivers seat above your left leg to the left of the steering column. A gray round cap, unscrew it and you  will see the plug

To get at mine I have to lift the shifter and control panel off to see mine. I don't know if
mine was always there but it is where they connected the Silverleaf.

Below are photos of the Pro-Link 9000 and some of the adapters used to connect to Ford, GM, Chrysler, Detroit, Cummins, etc, etc. I have another 9000 with the round plug but I don't have the Allison cartridge.

You can see from the back that the cartridge just pulls out and any other cartridge installed, No matter what it says on the front, all readers are the same with the only exception being back lighting on the later models. Naturally, the user manuals are completely different depending on the vehicle.

The unit only reads 4 lines at a time but unlike the Silver Lear or BlueFire, it's able to make changes to the ECU and test the injectors, PTO settings, fast idle, etc. It also can turn the smoke setting on or off. You cannot change the horsepower with this unit.

The cartridges you see in the box are dime a dozen for domestic cars. It's the big diesel, Allison and Meritor cartridges that are harder to find and expensive.

Snap-On owns Pro-Link now and does not give any support. Other names on the reader are Kent-Moore, MPSI, Detroit, etc.

The Chinese make an great and inexpensive model with a big screen that covers all big diesels, transmissions and ABS Meritor, and all of the information on one CD. I just don''t know which model to try to buy as it could be tough to return/exchange.

The last photo shows the Detroit cartridge plugged in and ready to go.

Thanks for all of the photos and help.  I found 3 connectors stuffed behind the velcroed panel aka firewall. One round 9 pin with 7 wires, a rectangular diagnostic connector (not obd) and a 3 pin triangular connector.  I am open to any and all comme ts going forward. Many thanks

Thank you for the good Information and pics on The Prolink 9000. I am new to diesel powered equipment so learning alot about the different systems.  The 9000 would be an asset to add to the toolbox.

The round 9-pin connector should work well with the Silverleaf VMSpc system. We use a Fusion 5 10.1" tablet I purchased on eBay and it performs quite well.

At $565, this is a real deal compared to the prices here. Lots of others available so check specs before ordering. U300 cannot use it as it covers DDEC V but all U300 Detroit models have DDEC II so not late enough.
