Speedometer issue

Out of the blue today my speedometer pegs out at 85 as soon as the key is turned on, stays there after starting, whether moving or stopped, returns to 0 if key is off...odometer works and records accurately. I drove 400 miles today and it stayed pegged the whole way. I checked the grounds under the dash, all tight and clean. What's going on here? Anyone with my vintage of coach experienced a problem of this type?

Until you get it fixed, if you have a GPS unit (or SilverLeaf) it should give you a speed readout.

Call North Hollywood Speedometer at (818) 287-6594 on Monday. They can resolve your problem over the phone or sell you a new speedo. I've used them since the 1970's.

Or, you can buy a GPS speedo. We did and like it.

Here is the GPS speedo with reviews: Amazon.com: 85MM GPS Speedometer Gauge 0-80MPH 0-120KM/H Boat MPH Speedometer...

Works very smoothly. Trip ODO can be set to zero each time the keys is turned off (default) or to total.

You cannot add the old mileage to the new speedo. Starts at zero

The GPS receiver is on a long pair of wires. Best to locate out of direct sun. It stopped working in high heat so I put it in a shady spot.

I would rather have flat glass as it picks up more reflections than I would like. Almost matches the OEM VDO. Almost.

The hole in the dash of the coach was not exactly round so I had to use a file on it. Just took a couple of minutes.
