Check engine light

August 4th we set out on our trip to Sturgis and a friends ranch on the river in Salmon, 18 days, 2800 miles a large mortgage payment for fuel. Great trip, all systems worked great. Strange issue each morning when the coach is cold. As we start out if we are pulling somewhat hard up an onramp to get up to speed the CEL will come on. Sometimes it will stay on for a short time 5 min or so and go out never to be seen again all day. 50% of the time shortly after the CEL the Stop Engine light will come on and within 30 seconds or so you are shut down and pulling off the road to enjoy the traffic blowing by  :o. This had happened twice before leaving Laughlin. At that time I was using a Bluefire and showed no fault codes. I since bought a scanner to try and capture the fault codes. I now have a Silverleaf. The Silverleaf is showing a high intake air temp like 5500* witch is a weird glitch in the Silverleaf. My SIL WS6 Keith is helping me sort that out, Thank you. My scanner gives me a 0105 code witch according to Cummings Quick Service is not applicable to my engine. Any ideas? 2002 U295 ISL 400. 100K. I'll clear codes, coach fires right up with no further issues all day. Thanks Jim.

I had something similar happened to me once. It was winter and the road had be closed because
of snow and when they let use go I had the peddle to the medal to get by all the semis and then
I had an alarm come on high intake temperature on the dash. I eased off on the throttle and it went
out and I have never had it happen again. I never saw anything on the Silverleaf.

5500 degrees is a bit high. Think the IAT light trips on at 160 degrees or something like that. I'd replace the sensor then really start looking at the harness and connectors. Your new intercooler should be doing a fine job. Is it displaying a IAT warning?

DSD I think the high intake temp is a glitch in the Silverleaf because it's also got some other erroneous readings using version 4. Silverleaf had told Keith to use version 3 on our earlier coaches so I'll test that next trip. Oldguy, there seems to be a pattern with the symptoms as you describe. I remember if I backed out of the throttle real quick the red stop engine light would not come on and the CEL would go out. Keith had said on one of his previous Cummins engines until the thermostat  opened fully it would not accept high boost. Possibly a Cummins protection system that is more sensitive on mine.
