water pressure problem

Installed new water fill valve, solenoid, and water pump. Very little water pressure unless I turn on water fill switch and then pressure is normal. Water pump will not shut off even with no faucets on and no leaks. Cleaned water pump filter and aerators. The Foretravel tech could not help me. Has anyone ever had this problem? I need help.

Did you plumb it back like it was? Did you install the check valve when you replaced everything.  Is sounds like you are taking water from the tank and pumping it back into the tank.

Fill out the signature area and give us as much info on your coach as you can,what pump etc,can't begin to help if we have no info.

You report two "symptoms" that both sound "backwards" to me.  Something is not hooked up correctly.

1.  Your first symptom is the exact opposite of what I would expect.  Normally, if the water fill switch is turned ON and water fill valve is open, then you would have little or no water pressure because the pump is simply pumping water in a endless loop, out of the tank and then back into the tank.  But you say the pressure is not normal unless the fill switch is ON. (?)

2.  Normally, the cause of a continuously running water pump, in the absence of any leaks or open faucets, is a fill valve either inadvertently turned ON or else stuck in the open position.  Yet you say (above) that the fill switch must be turned ON to get normal water pressure. (?)

I would check the installation and wiring on the new water fill valve.  Perhaps you installed/wired it backwards and when you think the fill valve is shut it is really open.  Just a armchair guess. TIFWIW

Another thought: solenoid operated water valves can be either NO (normally open) or NC (normally closed).

If you installed the wrong "type" fill valve, it might be actually operating the opposite of what the fill switch position indicates.

With the fill switch on, the pump will run continuously and water system is NOT pressurized.  Turn off the fill switch, turn off external feed, turn pump on and see if the pump pressurizes and shuts off.  All other efforts are moot until you do this.

Chuck, Thank you for your response. I reversed the water fill valve and now everything works as it should. I was quite sure that I had put it in correctly. Thanks again, Bert.

That's one good reason to mark ALL electric wires and pipes whenever working on anything like that. Plus lots of pictures.
