Outdoor Television

In between doing my front and rear air bags, the DW requested an outdoor TV. 
Decided to mount on the ceiling of the storage bay.  Used some drawer slides that I altered a bit, made a bracket that mounted to the slides and allowed the TV to swing up.  Took of the legs that came with the TV and used the screw holes to add a nylon grab strap. Already had a power outlet, ran a coax cable up to my TV switch box above the windshield. 
It only hangs down 5.5". Didn't interfere with anything I store in that bay.
Very happy with the results, works great, the 43" seems plenty big for viewing.

I have never understood the desire to sit outside and watch TV when it's more comfortable inside but awesome job none the less  ^.^d

Our deal, all hooked up HDMI, ant. and plugged in.
BBQ is permanently hooked up to LP
Cabinet is all stainless steel.
TV raises on tracks for tools
Drawer under for BBQ tools Etc.
Top over BBQ, rolls out for big table, you know, to work on stuff when broken!
Chairs are behind door.

I'm with you Ellliott.

I don't even take the MP3 player outside because I don't believe in disturbing my neighbors.

Edit to add: looks like a great job on the build though. Probably not as noisy as one of those Mopars in your garage Chris😁

Had to laugh, any distraction to changing airbags makes sense too me. Wonder if a projection would work on the side of the coach? Very nice. Currently we are without TVs and it seems to work👍👍

I wondered too about a projection TV Scott, but TV's are so darn cheap now, just went that route.
We don't watch a ton of TV, but it will be nice when we Tailgate at the Bronco games.  Bronco games start at 2, and we get there early enough to watch the early games with the DTV NFL Ticket. Everyone likes to gather around while socializing.
It's great to watch movies outside too in the evening, kinda like the old days being at the Drive In.
When looking at new coaches and trailers, a vast majority of then have an outdoor TV now, so it must be pretty popular.
Like everything, some like it, some don't. DWMYH

For our group, the outside TV is great.  Out at the sand dunes, you are far from other camps so it's fun to have the Super Bowl on, where everyone in camp can watch the game together.  You can't fit much of a crowd inside, so with all the picnic tables setup and all the food in a central location, everyone can enjoy the game.  Plus, some in the group don't have a TV at all, so they really appreciate it! 

I'd say it's usually a race or a game on the outside TV.  We don't really sit out there to watch much else.

It is an interesting subject for thought.
As you say, most new RV's have the outside TV and stereo feature. And the problem is that those that abuse these features by playing the TV/stereo at far too loud a volume, very much outnumber those that are respectful with those features.

But folks want to show off their team, driver or music preference to the neighbor 20ft away by going max volume in an RV park.

Out in the boonies with liked minded folk. Not an issue at all.

Several years ago we were on an LFC project, and the project manager had a new 5th wheel. He didn't pay real close attention when he bought it, but thought that the storage bay on the side there would be a good place for some tools. When he opened the door, though, he found out that the storage bay was already filled - with a television! We sat outside and watched one of the games leading up to the Super Bowl. We tried sitting outside and watching the Super Bowl, but it was too cold to stay out for very long, and the team that most were rooting for was behind, so we gave up.

If our next coach has an outside television set it will be removed and sold. I don't even want one inside, but Jo Ann insists on it.

Of course there are a lot of for and against opinions.

The only thing I would ask. If you have an outside TV, Keep it down a bit. If I can hear your TV while I'm sitting in my coach. It's too bloody loud.

Its probably just me but, from teaching Armed self defense for 30+ years with an emphasis on situational awareness, I always have a "comfort" problem turning my back to the "world". The thought of having a TV in the storage bay and facing the motorhome is something I would never feel comfortable about. My neck would be mighty sore from constantly turning to see whats going on behind me.
If I would have a TV for outside viewing I would have the TV moveable so I could set it out and watch it with my back to the coach.
