Synchronizing Slide System

I have a question for anyone who has replaced their slide synchronization cylinder. The instructions online from HWH appear to say that the room cylinders need to be disconnected from the room before synchronizing the system so that the cylinders can be operated without moving the slide. Am I understanding that correctly? I just got my rebuilt cylinder that took months to get, so I don't want to make any mistakes.

Yes that is correct. Otherwise air in the system will cause the cylinders to operate at different speeds which would cause the room to be crooked and possible damage.
