2000-320 generator

Voltage regulator.
I have seen somewhere that when you need a new regulator, it's not a plug and play and that you must talk to Jeff at Power Tech to wire it properly.
So, my question is- if Jeff is not available, who has replaced theirs and what might be the proper wiring procedure that we can all share on this forum?
My voltage on the generator is all over the charts- sometimes. Thanks to all that can respond.

The problem is that not all the same generators are wired the same. That is why Jeff is needed. I would have been ok if I had understood the instructions that came with the regulator. I can tell you how to wire the regulator for my unit but it might not be the same for your 2000.

Ernie, you won't be able to tell much, normally, when you start getting wacky numbers, the board needs to be replaced.  Ours was done in less than 20 minutes and the biggest issue is getting to the board.  You need a very short screw driver to remove the cover off the top of the control box.  They did not do anything special with mine, as I watched them.  Jeff did the replacement at Leesburg after hours.  Yes, I too was scared after what Chuck(Craneman) went through.
Not sure if this is his new number, but we just spoke to him at the Florida Foretravel rally in Webster, FL and he gave us all new cards.  You may not be able to get him before Monday, but I would give him a call anyway!

When I did mine Jeff told me how to do it and then said to call him before I started the generator.
When I finished replacing the regulator I call Jeff back and then he asked me to tell him everything I
did and after I went though with what I had done he told me to start the generator. It worked great.
Ernie when you get to it check the wires as the first time I was going to change the regulator I found
a wire broken in a terminal and when I went haywire again why changing the reg. I found another
wire broken in a terminal so the old regulator is probably sill good.

This is my video explaining things.  It has turned out to be correct, at least for my setup, and I am still running with this wiring setup.  Voltage was very low so I had to twist one of the pots to bring it up to 120v.  The pots are very sensitive.  Also check out the other side of the 4 wire, going to that field breaker.  That broke off for us on another occasion and made for a very hot afternoon.

It's worth the wait to talk with Jeff. There are a lot of subtle differences among these generators and Jeff will help you order the right part and install it correctly. It helps to be at the coach when you talk to Jeff because he can help you verify what sort of power head you have on your unit. Mine would make 120 volts and then jump to 170 volts. New regulator was the cure for me.
