Cheap Aquahot Nozzles

Aqua Hot nozzles are cheap on Amazon right now. $12 + $4 shipping. This is the cheapest I've found them so I'm loading up. Beats the hell out of buying directly from AH ($26.5 + $23.5 shipping )

Does this work on all Auqa Hot systems? Does it work on the 1999 U320?

Piqued my interest and answered what is for me an academic question: Does and Aqua Hot oil burner use a standard oil burner nozzle?  Why Yes it does.

How often do we suppose to replace the nozzle? I opened up mine the other day and cleaned the burn chamber. The 4 year old nozzle still looked good.

The nozzle needs to be replaced and the combustion chamber and U-channel chamber cleaned whne the exhaust becomes smelly and/or smokey.  Running the burner once per month or more can prolong the life of the nozzle.  Lack of use can create the need of replacement in 3 to 6 months.  Use it or loose it.

Looks has nothing to do with how well the nozzle works.

When purchasing a nozzle, purchase 2, 3 or 4.  Shipping is nearly the same and when you need one, they are not on every street corner..

Take one of those nozzles apart some time and admire the precision manufacturing.  Chances are good it won't work when you put it back together.  Those nozzles are made by specialist manufacturers.  I don't know, but I'd bet that Oasis uses the same nozzle.

I replace my nozzle back in 2019 I think it was. Clean the combustion chamber a little bit too at the time. My aqua Hot has been going strong since then. Thank goodness because right now I'm in Oklahoma and it's pretty cold up here. My secret is that I use it on a regular basis even when I don't need it. I have several nozzles in a drawer just in case. Maybe this Year I'll change the nozzle out and clean the combustion chamber when I get to Mexico. Maybe I won't we'll see. Good price though there Elliot.

Yes..from what I can find online, the Oasis CB-50 uses a totally different style nozzle than the Aquahots. They are about $90....nice.

Yes but this system will tolerate less clean diesel than the high pressure atomizing nozzles will.

Okay I did. Take one apart. The outer brass filter screws on. Once it is removed there is a Allen head open plug holding yet another splintered brass filter. It is also use to center a tapered cone that sets against another taper. Three micro cuts in the inner tapered cone. The inner cone setting inside the other cone that has a micro small hole in the end. When you shake end to end it is silent. So five  parts, two of which are filters. I can see that any contamination would disrupt the spray pattern. I couldnt tell if the center floating cone rotates but I wouldn't be surprised if it did. The three micro small cuts in the end don't appear to have any angle to them that would cause it to turn much. On other fuel injectors I have made mounts to forcibly spray carb cleaner threw them with good results. Will eventually make up a mount to see the spray pattern.
Quite interestingly simple yet precise.

I bought a used burner on the classified from Art, he does west coast Aqua Hot repairs and tune ups. He had used good parts and tested it before selling it. Earlier this year I put the unit in as I was having issues. When It didn't work I called Rudy and he ran me through tests and nothing appeared bad. I called Art and he asked if I had put a new nozzle in and when I told him it had the new nozzle he installed he informed me when he tested it there would have been fuel left in the new nozzle. Changed the nozzle and it is still working fine. I saved the nozzle and was going to let is soak in acetone to see what would happen. Decided the labor to try this is not worth the price of a nozzle.
I would be interested in Scott's findings.

Eliott, you need to disassemble the nozzle and use the end of a tooth pic to clean those micro grooves.  And you need to replace the filters with new.  Your 0.35 gallon per hour at 100 PSI requires that the fuel be filtered through a 30 micron filter before it gets to those sintered filters. Even then the spray pattern may be off and if unburnt (raw) fuel impinges on the sides of the combustion chamber you'll have a new problem to deal with and the name is coke. I was a teenager once.

Never seen a toothpick that was smaller than 30 Micron 0.0011811 inch in diameter. Anyway I would need to have a microscope just to see the junk I was trying to mechanically remove. Again quite interesting, making that 15$ spray nozzle seem cheaper and cheaper

The part Elliott linked to on Amazon has .75 stamped on the nozzle in the picture.  Rudy may chime in here, but wouldn't the .75 nozzle result in a rich (smoky) burn compared to the specified .35 nozzles?  Just asking.

It's likely just a stock image that the seller got from somewhere. I purchased some a few months ago and they're all 0.35. Good eye though.

A 0.75 would surely cause issues as it's 0.4 gallons more per hour. Either a huge flame or not enough air to burn that much fuel and you'd be blowing smoke.
