Zipdee awning lights

Almost a an impulse purchase I picked up two 4 foot LED whip lights in white and three base mounts at last months KOH. Primary purchase was for one whip and mount for the Bronco project. The extra two mounts and extra whip could be used on the coach. Since ownership we have wanted more outside lighting and have considered several different ideas. From additional lights on the side of the coach to broadcast light out 👎 to adding a row of LED along below the main awning to a row of strip LED rolled inside of the awning to shine down  either inside or outside of the awning flap. So when purchasing the one whip I added the extra components. KOH is a carnival to say the least, and having a way to distinguish my coach from the other 20,000 coaches in the dark and continuous dust is not impossible but sometime you loose your rig for a bit. So I decided it would be nice to mount the whips both vertical for location and horizontal for actual lighting. First thing was to determine if the light whips would be operational for dimming. Ordered two different styles of dimmer. One was kinda old school and would clip the intensity ant a higher than acceptable level. The cheap one requires the LED ground to be isolated from ground but works down to very low light levels. Ordered some square aluminum tubing that would slide over the zipdee stainless steel support just below the awning attach casting. Will probably require relaxing the spring tension and pretensioning after installed. Made up the mounts, incorporated ground isolation with plastic washer and tubing. Plan is to remove whips during transportation. For now am just installing a external power cords and planning on accessing power at fridge access but subject to change. If powering from same location would be able to add a dual flasher to personalize identification. Please understand I would never have flashing lights under normal circumstances but KOH is not normal. The dimmer turns these into very nice accommodating lights when place horizontally and broadcast the light adjustable under or beyond the canopy area. Very nice camp lights with small power requirements.

So installed mounts on the awning upper pole right next to the upper casting. Powered up lights all day long making sure dimmer was okay. At low power setting they use very little power and project very little light. On hi they draw five amps and it is nearly daylight next to coach. They rotate vertical and horizontal. They follow awning when extended. With awning extended I will drill additional position holes in adjustment plates to install a 1/4" pip pin into. With awning extended and light horizontal and dimmed down will provide any level of light requested down to non visible level. So far it's working out as I envisioned. Last picture is with porch light included for reference same level.

One more thing I may have to pay you to make for mine. Havent been to KOH (maybe go next year and connect with you if you go) in a few years but spend most my time playing in the dunes so also been wanting a better light solution.

I have a couple Buggy Whip whips for my can-am with a quick connect base. I have 2 extra bases already so maybe design something that is similar to what you made but incorporates my whip bases.
