Water hose replacement for reel

As some of you know, I had replaced my hose a few years ago with a store purchased one.  Sadly, it was not heavy enough for when you pulled the hose off the reel, it would stretch and that eventually just led to a broken hose again.
I searched the forum and could not find a suitable replacement listed here.  Will I need to order another hose from FOT?  I believe I have the Reelcraft reel in the coach, but not sure what hose to order from them.  1/2 inch x 25' should be the replacement I believe.  Any help on this would be most appreciated.  I have repaired the broken hose, but want a suitable replacement that lasts!  Original one lasted 20 years, so that is what I would like to replace this with.

Frank, from what I remember, it has a female connection at the base.  I want to get the original hose and was wondering if there are any resources besides FOT?
Our reel is a ReelCraft.

Joe,

I replaced our hose 8 years ago with a Kuri Tec hose from the RV Water Filter Store.  It is still in great shape.  Seems to be much higher quality than common Walmart white RV water hose.

I recommend you remove the old hose from the reel first and make sure what fitting you need (on the reel end).  Then call - they will custom swage the proper fitting on the reel end, and cut the hose whatever length.

See my old post below:

Thanks Chuck, I had looked at that post when I did my search, but was wondering if this hose stretches at all when you pull on it?  That seems to be the issues with the normal water hoses you can purchase at big box stores.
I will be tearing back into this when we get to CT in May.  Since we will be there for at least 5 months, will give me plenty of time to work on the hose reel as well as my windshield wipers which decided to park in the middle of our windows now.  Not sure the issue is in the steering wheel or at the motor itself.  I replaced that motor last year and know what is expected to open up pandora's box again!  lol. Always something!

Scott, I looked at your post on the hose and I can do that same thing, issue is those hoses are not as strong as the original ones.  I believe I mentioned to you that I had already changed the original hose out a few years ago and it broke today.  I have a temporary fix on it now, so no issues, but looking for the heavier hose that will work.  Hope that I explained it correctly.

Do you have anything with the replacement hose part number?  I did a bit of a Google search and came across these possibilities for OEM potable RV hose:

Reelcraft 600326 R.V Water Hose Assembly 1/2" I.D. X 35' | FastoolNow.com

(9076) REELCRAFT 35' RV POTABLE HOSE - 601062 – North American Pressure Wash...

There are no photos, so perhaps you can contact Reelcraft and ask what the appropriate P/N is.

Okay, called FOT this morning and they don't carry that hose anymore.  So found out that Michelle had the correct part number for the hose, which is #600326.  However ReelCraft does not carry this hose and they gave me Fastoolnow.com which is what Michelle also had listed and the price of the 1/2X35' hose is $123.99, ouch!  Waiting on a call back now on another company that carries ReelCraft products for pricing.
Grainger has this for $204.70, ouch ouch!  I did find out that ReelCraft does sell the whole replacement reel on our coach.  Did not get a price, but incase anyone in the early 2000 coach's that have ReelCraft reels, your model number is:  #5835 OLBSW23.

Maybe 601062 supercedes 600326?  Might be a question for Reelcraft.

Just curious.  We're talking about a power hose reel or spring loaded ?    I would think a spring loaded one would stretch sooner than a power one and I'm not familiar with what comes on a 2000 coach.
Seems to take very little effort to extend our power one ?

I have a glendinning hose reel that I put in in 2020. I think it's 35 ft long. It's already starting to get brittle. Mine is electric. Joe if you don't want the hose to stretch just go to a good true value hardware store and they'll hook you up for a lot less money. Even if the hose last 3 years you're still good to go. I have a little bias about camco products so dsd's recommendation would work too I just don't always like their stuff.

Figured I give this thread a little bump.

old.jpg old1.jpg Our 5835-OLBSW23 ReelCraft was some ugly.  The hose is a gummy disaster, the stop doughnut is not reusable, and there is some rust at the base.  It also needs to have its latch and tension adjusted.

old connection.jpg new connection.jpg The part number for a new hose, should you want to stay OEM, is 600326, they are in the $140 range (for a hose!).  I called ReelCraft and inquired about the part number, and it gets complicated.  Although our reel P/N ( 5835-OLBSW23 ) is current, our version of that reel is obsolete.  The newer version 5835-OLBSW23 that works with hose 600326 is different.  The old one used a threaded connection from hose to reel and the new one uses a pushlock.

There was/is an update kit to move from the previous threaded connection to the new style pushlock that is even more expensive than that $140 hose!

new.jpg A new reel and hose can be found for ~$750, its $914 at Grainger.  Doing a search on the Grainger P/N 4NB26 we found a freight liquidator that had a new one for basically the price of a hose.  It arrived in the original Grainger box, new, mfg in June, no damage and now in place (In a nice clean bay)

I have sent a request for a quote on 35' of fresh water hose to Glendinning.  Waiting on a reply and will share when I receive it probably later today.  I requested female hose bib on one end and crimp 3/8 NPT on the other.  Attached a picture of what I believe may be the original hose.

The one I removed looked like that, but also had a wire kink preventer on that end.

That said, I'm pretty sure this was not the original hose as the U clamp was just finger tight.  Also there was no swivel fitting anywhere, so as I loosened the fitting I had to untwist the hose as needed, bit of a PITA.

Must say that the original metal connections are more confidence building than the plastic update, so I hope Glendinning comes through!

I didn't measure it, but looking at the (disgusting) hose Steve took off our old hose reel, the connection to the reel itself looks larger than 3/8".

I've been real happy but have thought that if I was to  address this again I would eliminate the check valve and solely use the ball valve. I really think being able to back pressure the hose would be convenient from washing down the front of the coach to watering down fire pits. Dual use of the hose would be a nice feature for me. Simply would need a double ended hose adapter to put a spray nozzle on the end. One day.
