Thermostat (cabin)

Has anyone had any experience with with the "Dometic 3314082.000 Genuine OEM Thermostat Kit 10 Button Comfort Control Center" thermostat?  It has two zone controls and looks like a huge improvement over the OEM 4 and 5 button units that came with the rig.  We converted to a 5 button a few years back (changed circuit boards) but aren't happy with it.

Hi,

What problems did you have with 5 button thermostats? Jim

That is the one in my coach. Has timer settings for both zones. It was in my coach when I purchased it. I believe the boards might be needed to be changed but not sure of that.

When converting from 4-button to the 5-button system the circuit boards need to be changed. The systems are not cross compatible.
The 4-button thermostats would develop push button problems over time (though they are re-buildable) that were not present in the 5-button thermostats which usually are quite bullet-proof.
Problems with thermostat communication often are due to failing cables from mice or vibration. Send a PM to me for more help.

The only programmable thermostat from Dometic is the 10 button model. Though many 5-button system owners have purchased the new Micro-air programmable thermostat - a very popular upgrade.

Jim, I currently have 3 penguins. One bit the dust via a tree limb. Will a Coleman unit work with the 5 button thermostat?

I talked to Jim. He said stick with Dometic products to keep the thermostat functional
