Vmspc stopped working

Started the coach today and loaded normal Vmspc file and application launched but without my usual setting, AND no data from engine. USB C cable inserted and checked other end in VMSPC box. Also checked end in PBD port. All appeared normal but NO function.

Didn't realize how much I've learned to drive using Vmspc over the last 6 years until I had to do 5 hours without it,

Any ideas?

Assuming that you already did try rebooting the computer ?
Send Roger an email, his address is listed on the last post for the Vmspc under the Commercial Listings.

When that happened to mine, Roger walked me through some settings to do with which data port or something like that to reset to and all is still working well now. If there is some manual online it might show how to do it. Or better yet do as mark suggested, contact him.

Yes, it's the data port that's missing. Until I hear back from Roger I'll do some online hunting.  Thanks

Ok, got it fixed.  Crane man was on the right track. Computer lost its data port connection. When I re-established correct COM port # and USB connection type everything came to life.  All I lost was data for todays drive (odometer) and I'll have to adjust fuel for fill up earlier in the day.

Wish I could discover how this happened?

If your system locks up- Roger said to hold down the power button for 45 seconds. That reset mine

Keith, not Ernie, but if you have a laptop the program is on, hold down that power button for at least 45 seconds.  That fixed mine when it locked up.  I tried everything and finally gave Roger a call and within 1 minute had everything back again!  Normal Control, Alt, Delete does not work for some reason, but power button does.  Hope this helps!

The above is another way of saying shut down laptop, Sometimes you have to do this when the compete system hangs and no mater what you do nothing happens.

I do not use this program but sometime to shut just the program that has hung you can go to the task bar, right click, select task manager, then select the process (name of the program) then bottom right select "End Task"  This will shut down the program. You then might be able to start the program again.

My issue was simply the tablet losing the Com port. After changing it worked fine. Roger was , as always, a terrific resource. Eve tho my Vmspc worked fine on v 3, Roger recommended v 4 and helped my by Teamviewer to get the new version installed. I spent a day creating a new screen interface and got a lot of new functionality working. Specifically, cruise control messages to show on, and off. Cruise messages to sow on and off as well as set speeds. And although it means nothing a pretty new interface. Also, with the new version, any diagnostic OBD messages show in real-time on the screen.

With mine a my son had loaded 4 off the internet and it kept cutting out and he loaded 3 and
I didn't like it and then I found the disk that I assume came with it and it works great.

My new install of v4 worked well on its first use. The changes I'm making now are simply formatting to draw my eye to data I use most often.

Randy I like your screen. How often does it refresh? Mine seems to refresh slowly and I couldn't figure out after not spending a whole lot of time at it how to increase it. I should have asked Rodger but I never did it's just a minor annoyance that I don't even think of sometimes.
I'm not able to adjust my fuel other than full. A couple times for some reason my fuel went to zero and I'm not sure why and rebooting didn't change it.
The other thing that it's been doing lately is not showing when the retarder is on. I think I may need to visit a Allison shop soon to have that checked out.
I use a cheap Chinese 10-in pad that I got on Amazon that runs windows. I used to use a laptop but that thing uses too much power and it just took up too much room on my dash.
