Generator hose

The top insulation has fallen down and after removal I saw this open ended hose.
It's in the back left corner.
Is this normal?

I really can't tell from your pictures when I'm looking at other than a hose. A hose with a hose clamp that's not connected to anything seems like a bad idea but then older coaches get things moved around and unless you know what the previous owner did it may be hard to figure it out. The only hoses in the generator compartment or the fuel hoses and the coolant hoses. Not sure if it's coming from the top or from the bottom. I suggest pulling the generator out as far as it will go and seeing where that hose goes to.
It doesn't look like it's small enough to be a radiator overflow hose and it looks too big to be a fuel hose.

It's about a 2" hose. Will try to get a better look tomorrow.

Having just done my gen restoration recently. There is a large black drum behind the exhaust manifold, that provides the intake air for the generator going through the air filter. That hose IS the intake air itself going into that drum. I dont really understand the drum part of it, but as Diesels actually preheat the intake air with the glow plugs, I imagine this approach is part of also keeping that intake air warm as that area back there is incredibly hot once the unit is running.

There is a large hole in the middle panel between the Engine and the gen bodies directly adjacent to that hose, where the rear louvered air intake is. I was going to get a longer hose and actually reroute mine back over to that area, But due to the bend it would take to do so I didnt like the way it cut off a % of the intake air. Why they have it pointing straight up where old insulation could fall into it makes no sense, But yes that will happen as I shook a fair amount of old insulation our of mine during the refresh. No longer an issue with mine, as the insulation I used is not the same type as the crap removed.
