Generator leaking fuel

Hi all,

We are new to the Foretravel world and could use some help with a small problem. We have a 2008 Nimbus XT 36 ft. It has some type of fuel link in the generator. We've been told from the dealer that they have to pull the entire generator out of the coach to find it and fix it. Seems to me that the side panels could be taken off the generator and maybe even back panel to access the leaking part. Probably a fuel line. Does this sound reasonable to have to remove the generator completely to get to this? thanks in advance for your help.

Sounds like your idea would be feasible, also to find a leak you have to observe the unit while running
Kind of hard to do with it removed from the coach.

Possible they know where the leak is and it will be easier (less time) to remove generator to fix leak.

Mike,

We would sure like to be able to help, but not knowing exactly where the fuel leak is, really hard for us to "arm chair" a fix.

Does the generator slide out for maintenance without fully removing it?

Is the dealer knowledgeable on your brand of generator?

You may not need to remove the panels though as you may have a loose fitting on the back of the generator where the fuel line connects to the unit. To check this first take off the belly pan and roll out the generator. Before crawling under to check the fitting on the back of the generator. Block up the frame so you remove the risk of getting squished if there is a suspension failure while you are under there.

With you having a 2008 Nimbus you have a quiet box that is a pain to work with and may have the Perkins engine. You can remove some of the panels for access without completely taking out the generator and can get to the fuel lines on the front of the engine.

Thanks everyone. The coach is currently at the service department at MOT. I checked and it is a Kubota engine. And yes the slide does provide what looks like full access to the generator. good catch on the "it must be running". I'll talk to the mechanic today to get a better understanding of why they think the generator must be pulled out.

It helps when you put your coach details in your signature which you have not yet set up in the forum settings.
Hope they get it fixed for you!
