Aqua Hot

Hi, we are looking for a 98-99 FT and I am seeing a lot of complaints on 1998-99 FT about the AquaHot water heater?  I found one that had it rebuilt 2 years ago.  What would you say about that?

I'd say that 95% of the people that complain about an aqua hot have never owned one. Or they simply don't maintain it properly.

They are awesome machines and as long as you take care of it, you will absolutely love it.

1.  I am seeing a lot of complaints on 1998-99 FT about the AquaHot water heater?
2.  I found one that had it rebuilt 2 years ago.
3. What would you say about that?

1. Elliott pretty much has said it all
2. Who rebuilt it?
2a. What did they do to it to say it was rebuilt?
3. If you like the rest of the coach then the A/H wouldn't be a deal breaker.

Aqua Hot is a great system, however they do require service now and then. Just make sure it works on both electric and diesel.

Could be they let it (or had some unfortunate circumstance that allowed it to) freeze in the winter.  That's not the fault of/flaw in the AquaHot.  I would ask why it needed to be rebuilt, and as Mike lists, who rebuilt it.

The 10/30/2020 bill he shows me was for $9K for rebuilt AH tank, copper coil, and replumbed all copper lines + labor. What do you think (Howard's RV did the work)?

I agree with Elliott, the Aqua hot system we have in our coach is one of the reasons I love it so much. Unlimited hot water, 3 zones of heating, and engine heating if needed, What's not to love?

Chances are previous owner let it freeze and it burst the copper pipes.

I agree with Elliott and for me not having an Aqua-Hot would be a deal breaker for me. Being able
to have the bathroom warm and the rest of the coach cool is awesome. It is so nice to be able to go
the bathroom and be nice an warm.

I have one and love it.  As others said , that one likely froze.

The key to keeping it running is to start it up and run through a couple cycles once a month.  I went 2.5 years without service.  Ran great.

The other potential problem is the controller.  The old silver ones good until they don't.  There was a black model that was problematic.  The company has a new one that is supposed to work well.

I wouldn't let aquahot be the deciding factor on buying a coach.

When I first purchased my new to me 1998 U320 with aqua hot I was a bit overwhelmed.
Lots of things went wrong and I had to have the coils redone to the tune of 8000.00 CND.
Since then, with regular diligent maintenance and the expertise from Rudy, I have become comfortable with the
system and would not have another unit without it.
Myself and the better half love the aqua hot!
