basement door

I need to remove the angle iron frame from a basement door for repair, and it is riveted to the door.
My question -- is there a sheet of metal laminated between the fiberglass layers that angle is riveted to?
What holds the angle to the fiberglass?
Thanks

Chris, if it is like the latches on the doors, there is no metal behind those as I have repaired two latches so far and used diamond plate to hold them firm when repaired.  Good question on the metal, but Extreme should be able to assist in that for clarity.
