Removal of "fake air scoops"

I need to remove one of my "fake air scoops" to reseal the end cap / sidewall seam under it...how are these things attached and what is the best way to go about removing them?

Call Xtreme, they removed them on one of their tail light conversions.

Fake?  I always thought they were tail light  coolers... aren't they stuck on with some type of adhesive.

They are held on by some kind of adhesive.

Most likely held on with VHB tape.  Maybe get Use a piece of fishing line to cut through the  tape .

My drivers side "air scoop" fell off while driving a few weeks back and I am looking for another, but it was held on by some type of glue as you can see in the pictures. If anyone has one laying around please let me know. TIA

Looks like the scoop covers an access for components during construction. The underside does not match the endcap.

My fake air scoop, AKA taillight cooler, is "glued on" really well. After a couple of unsuccessful attempts at removal I felt the need to seek professional advice from someone who had BTDT.

Greg Hughes at Xtreme confirmed what I suspected... "If the factory did a good job attaching it you will crack/destroy it trying to remove it, we have removed a few of those but they were permanent removals, no intention of reusing them." He noted that occasionally one will loosen and come off, as a couple of members have experienced, but for whatever reason those probably did not adhere well when new, but they will still "hang on" several  years. There was a "pneumatic press" gluing process involved at the factory as he explained it to me.

So, I have abandoned my idea of removing mine and will rig up a spout extension on caulking gun and reseal the seam under it with it in place.

Thanks to all for the suggestions.
