1995 U320 SE patio awning question

We bought our 1995 U320 SE in November of 22 and never opened the patio awning.
When we were driving from The Grand Canyon to Utah in September we hit a bump outside Las Vegas and the awning partially unrolled.
We discovered that the fabric had several tears in it.
It's the original ZipDee.
When we bought our previous 1996 U280, its awning had been replaced with an A&E which had a slot down the length of the roller.
We bought a screen room to go on it so we could take our grandkids with us.
It is designed to slide into that slot.
Since we are going to have to replace the fabric, Is it possible to replace the whole roller with an A&E so we'd have a slot and still use the ZipDee arms and metal cover?
Has anyone attached a screen room to a ZipDee awning some other way.
Grandkids are 13, 11 and 8. I was telling the youngest about our trip to Utah and she asked what a national park was. They'll never be able to afford to go unless we take them.
Thanks, Susan

ZipDee sells replacement material for their awnings.

I needed a replacement cover and zep Dee was an easy solution. Also check the gray attachment lock strip. They all will need replacement on your coach. They are always in the UV. Doesn't help with your question but give you a chance to get ahead of them failing. Zip Dee is very proud of their product.

Unless Zipdee makes a replacement tube with slots (long shot) I don't think another manufactures tube will fit.

I do have a screen room for my '91.  The attachment to the roller is with fabric snaps.  They pilot drilled a hole right through the fabric and into the roller tube and screwed the snap in.  The extra thickness of the snap has not been a problem when rolling up.
I think they are spaced about 18-24" apart.  I would take a picture for you but I can't roll out the awning all the way where it's stored.

I had a buddy with a '95 U320SE and we had the same ZipDee awning so I think yours is the same as mine.
