Simple but urgent question. [need engine model confirmation]

The "repaired" starter failed after 3 uses.
I'm using another tech.

I NEED TO CONFIRM THAT I HAVE THE 5.9 Cummins.

From All Things Foretravel, it says that your U225 has a Cummins B 5.9 engine

Wouldn't Moby's engine use the same starter as all the 5.9 powered Dodge/RAM pickup trucks on the road?  Doesn't seem like it would be that tough to locate a good reliable starter.  What am I missing?

I'm right there with you. I would think almost any auto parts store would have one. The problem is they don't have Foretravel when they look up in their computer.

Starter failed after three starts.  I'm in a campground now with water and electric but no sewer on this site.
Boondocking protocol in effect.
Further background:
1st repair guy CLAIMS he rebuilt the starter solonoid.
I'm doubting his talent on that.
After it failed I called him right away and he said he would be right on it.  Then silence.  He only responded AFTER I told him I was disputing the charges.
  Funny how that works.
Talking to another tech (who is coming down), I took pictures of the starter for him and noticed that the bolt first tech broke, and said he fixed remains broken.

Only thing worse than changing a starter is doing it twice. Ive become a fan for OEM starters.

I rebuilt my 5.9 Cummins Dodge starter some years back, parts supplied by Larry B's
May give you some idea what the kits sell for.

Looking for engine parts always find out what truck engine uses the same part you need and never mention motor home to a parts counter button pusher.

New mechanic just left & we found the following issues on the first guys work.
1)  Broken mounting bolt.  Claimed to be replaced but was not.
2)  No nut holding energize wire in place.
3)  Main battery leads to starter loose.
4)  50% of screws holding solonoid cover in place missing.
5)  Pinion gear worn.  Was not replaced as promised.
6)  Pinion shaft bushing not placed correctly, not allowing bendix to move full travel.

To say I'm spitting nails would be an understatement.

Dispute for first "repair" filed with CC company and written documentation of errors provided.

That blows large. As you progress getting the bus straightened out let us know how the invoice dispute goes. Good luck

I keep thinking about your previous post about this starter problem and the "clunk". I hope your flywheel wasn't damaged.

Funny I have over 500,000 miles on ISB engines and come to think of it have never changed an alternator or starter. Probably both will go bad on my current Dodge because ive said this. Roll the dice again.
