Step and passenger slide platform manifolds

If you assumed I'm getting ready for a trip because of the all the posts lately...the you assumed correctly 🙂

So the passenger sliding platform has always worked Intermittently since I've had coach. I was under today investigating and noticed a significant air leak at the air ram that operates it. I was hoping it was at the air connection but it seems to be coming from the end...so probably a crack??

I was wondering what the pressure regulators should be set at. By tinkering I found out that the step can be adjusted to swing open faster with more pressure. The other one is for the slide platform and it would randomly open and shut as I adjusted the regulator. It looks like quite a job to replace the ram thing because it's hard to get to the step side so that will have to wait.

I set the step at 30 lbs, but not sure what the platform should be.

For your leak, you could temporarily shut off the air supply, allow the cylinder air to dissipate, and move slide manually if needed. Because the slide cylinder is in a hard to replace location and with normal use air pressure is always present with slide open or closed, this cylinder is prone to eventually leak. Some have installed a 12volt 3-way valve on the input air line to relieve pressure after the step has moved closed or open, to prolong the life of the cylinder. New valve pressurizes step slide 4-way pneumatic valve or lets cylinder air to empty. To reduce slamming open or closed, reduce the exhaust port air flow on the 4-way valve.

My step cover was pretty lazy and required a push to get it moving either way.  I replaced the regulator and I think I set it around 60 psi.  It works great now but as Barry said it will probably wear out sooner.  Looks like the auxiliary hwh air tank would have to come out to access the cylinder.
