U240 shocks

I've read some older threads on this topic but I'm not finding the part numbers wolfe10 mentioned of
Front Koni 88-1547 SP1
Rear Koni 90-2256 SP1

I see shockwarehouse recommends
Front Koni 88-1490 SP2
Rear, no recommend part number

I was hoping some of you Torsilastic gurus might know what is working with these old coaches in 2024. I have a message out to Koni but I have no idea if they will get back to me.

I really appreciate these older threads from when there were probably more of these on the roadways and so many Forum members who were driving them.

Thank you all for any help you can give.

Michael,

When you contact Koni, ask them to look up the custom shocks they made for me (Brett Wolfe) and get ones as close to them as you can.

This is what they currently show on their website for the U240 and if you can't get with someone at Koni, what I would order:
KONI NA | List

I worked closely with  Todd Schiernbeck, the engineer at Koni on them. If is still there, he will know.

And, as mentioned in another thread, on the torsilastic suspension, ride height is critical for shocks as well as other suspension and driveline components.

Not hard to check and adjust, but very often ignored.

PM if you need help.  If you are at the coach, give me a phone number in the PM and I can walk you through it.

Quick question Brett, I received the Koni rear shocks listed on their site and went to install them today, the grommet is bigger than a 3/4 bolt like my mounting surface. Do you remember if you used some type of converter grommet  to make them fit? I plan to call Koni in the morning and see if they have a recommendation.

Thank you for your help,

Some shocks require a BUSHING.

Let Koni know the diameter of your bolt and they can send you a pair.

Koni has been amazing to work with. I called them this morning and they are shipping a bushing for my rear shock mounts. When they arrive, I'll post the part numbers so others may know what they need before placing an order.

For those researching what shocks to buy for a 225/240, use the link Brett included in this thread. Before you order your rear shocks, you need to identify if your rear eyelets on the coach are 3/4" or 1" eyelets. Foretravel used both on the rear shock mount. I'm not sure what years covered which size, but my 92 U240 uses a 3/4" eyelet.

Brett, I suspect we are all enjoying the work you did many years ago with Koni to find a more appropriate shock setup for these coaches. The rear shocks I received from them are dramatically more substantial than the ones I took off.

Cheers
