Raise Coach without Starting Engine

We've been parked now for 6 weeks and A/B air tanks are now at zero. Coach is maintaining level without issue.  Can I "Raise" coach by simply using the Aux Air compressor and the Raise Button on the HWH panel?  I'd prefer not starting the main engine without driving the coach.

Depends on how the aux compressor is connected on your coach.

On older coaches (like our U280) the aux compressor sends its output direct to the 6-pack manifolds.  In that case, IF the compressor is in good shape, it is possible to use it to raise the coach.  It might take a while...

On newer coaches, the aux compressor might be connected differently.  You can look at your air system diagram and see if what you want to do is feasible.

OR, just try it and see what happens!  :thumbsup:  You'll be able to tell pretty quickly where the air from the compressor is going.  If the air bags start to inflate, you're on the right track.  If you start to see a pressure increase on your dash pressure gauges, then the aux compressor is trying to fill up the whole air system.  EVENTUALLY, sufficient pressure should reach the air bags and raise the coach.

Randy, I've been able to do that with our coach. 2003 U320. Takes a little while  but will do it.

Confirming that all air functions...overall raise and dump as well as individual quadrants are available from aux air pump. No air added to A/B tanks....just bags.

Which is good (that it doesn't go into A/B tanks) since it's not the dry air you'd get from the main engine compressor/air dryer.  Even with the little desiccant bowl that some years have, the output of the aux compressor isn't going to be all that moisture-free. 

(which is why that Air Tank switch that 2003 and after have, which allows the aux compressor to fill those tanks, should only be used if absolutely necessary - very rare - and should be monitored for leak through)
