Water tank won’t fill

1996 U295 CAI
At our last stop, tried filling the water tank and it seemed to go well for a while, but never filled to overflow (tank monitor inop).  Proceeded to our current location and tried to fill the tank.  I could hear water flowing when I opened the fill valve but only for a few minutes.  After that, no flow.  If we use some water, we can try filling again, but flow stops after a minute or two.  We're getting air in the lines as well.  I also noticed that water drips from the fresh water connection. When disconnected.

1.  Is it possible that the vent/overflow line is clogged causing the tank to pressurize?
2.  Is there any way to use city water directly  instead of working off the tank?
3. I attached a picture of the  check valve.  Does that look like something I might find in the hardware store should that be the source of the problem?

You should be able to work off of city water.

That pressure regulator might have to come from a RV type store or Amazon (Remember to use Amazon link at bottom of page.)

On your coach the back flow preventer is made into the filling where you hook up your shore water hose. With that fitting leaking when you remove the hose it needs replacing also.

As stated above that item in the pic is a pressure regulator that could have failed as they are thriftly made. Both of these items could be causing your restriction.

Appreciate the replies.  I think I can get the inlet locally.  Not sure about the regulator. Turbojack, I won't see the Amazon link you mentioned.

Pretty sure your photo shows an in-line pressure regulator that works by restricting water flow. This type of regulator is probably better than none, but not favored and often removed with preference to a 'tower'-type of an adjustable water pressure regulator.

Make sure you do not 'overflow' the fresh water tank. Unless the overflow drain hose has been modified/re-routed though the floor, it drains into your bays. That can cause major bulkhead issues over time.

Many have installed SeeLevel tank monitors to replace failed OEM monitors.

I am a very new Foretravel owner but I had the same issue and it was a failed backflow/check valve on the water fill line, which was found and replaced behind the manifold where all of the water shut off valves are located, and it solved my problem of the tank not filling, and not working on city water.

I also had a failed back flow check valve stopped the water.

My water fill also does not work on my 02.
Where is the fill valve and check valve located?
I think the fill valve is located on the water pump set up. I see an electric valve there that energizes when I turn on the fill switch in the utilities compartment.  I cannot seem to locate where the check valve is. I traced the water line from the hose reel and see nothing in that line. It runs around the bottom of the black tank to the other side.
Any ideas?

The electric valve likely has a manual shut off that you turn - look for the X handle.  This is from our '03, but I suspect an '02 has the same valve  Fresh Water Fill Valve

Check valve on an '02 is somewhere in the vicinity of the bottom of the manibloc.

Removing panel for water check valve

Also
I found the check valve behind the fuzzy panel by the manifold and, sure enough, it was faulty. I removed the internal parts and tested the system and everything works.  I'll put in a new check valve tomorrow.  Thanks for the help!!!

In an '03 it's behind the utility bay panel right after the hose reel
